Since 1991, Immortal did a great job proving that they were amongst the best black metallers out there. Starting with their "frostbitten" formula and then exposing a thrashier side, they never failed to amaze us. Battles In The North, At The Heart Of Winter, and all of their grim efforts across the years were always satisfying, strong and at times mind boggling. Now, let us go back in time, and revisit the event that sparked this chain of awesomeness, the album that brought to birth one of the most noteworthy black metal acts on earth: Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism.

I kept thinking I was listening to Darkthrone on the first half of this. Wasn't until track 5 that it sounded like the Immortal of Pure Holocaust onwards.

I think this is the best album Immortal has released. I'm not a huge fan of their later material, only some songs.

Excellent album , old good Immortal, not 100% black metal, it has some death metal elements, and not best sound quality, band need to re record it(together whit Pure Holocaust) I hate when so called ''true'' BM fans say, bets is demo, demo is shit if sound is week, many bands has no money to record good demo, so they spreed tapes globe wide, and some posers get it and worship it, I dont reject demo, but I love good stereo sound quality in music, it was Chronos from venom who said about home town studio ''we make demos here and real records are done in London, and many poser bands worship small studios'' bands simply has no money and garage recordings can bring up good songs but all mix and matser must be done at good studio if you wanna get good sound
I love this album I wish I can wander at Nordic forest in 1993 when we did not have internet,
The Call Of The Wintermoon - you must see t, its magic it is calling you
Cryptic Winterstorms - you need how to survive when cold blizzard is blowng from the north
Blacker Than Darkness - when sun is no more rise 2 months at winter time and there ar no snow and 22h is night, you will understand
A Perfect Vision Of The Rising Northland - you must pend 2-3 years at Norrland to understand how beautiful it is here, valhalla I am at home

PS that polish guy(D. P) will probobly quote me and make stupid remark(as he does all time at my comments) but I dont care

DFM to Immortal is like what's Soulside Journey to Darkthrone. A tap of their creativity, yet unbalanced.

I agree about unbalanced into this album, young, still searching sound, but they went good forvbard other bands totally lost

Humble beginnings but very solid stuff indeed. It has the right length for this style of black metal but the added touch of acoustic moments prove a fitting accompaniment to an otherwise simplistic musical path. Best song by far would be "Cryptioc Winterstorms" in my opinion, if only because of how memorable the riff work is.

Where the signature sweet sounding atmosphere rich Immortal began.

You are not metal enough until you visit Kenya. The cradle of mankind, where man learnt first to work with stones and first enjoyed the sounds produced by banging stones which later influenced metal in all its sounds and genres.

7.5 is a good average for this album. I agree what you said. The acoustic passages were a welcome surprise. Otherwise, pretty straightforward, nothing special really, but solid and enjoyable black metal

Good atmosphere and mood, but little bit mushy and raw sounding. Maybe that is because it is their first album or maybe they wanted it to be like this. I like it as a classical black metal record but don't enjoy it as much as I would like to
