Progressive? Neo-classical? Power? Rock? Symphonic? It has always been hard to describe the style of Royal Hunt and XIII - Devil's Dozen does not make this task any easier. It is an album packed with so many elements from a wide range of genres that fit together so well to create 8 tracks that manage to sound contemporary and classic at the same time.

Is it just me, or does this album feel a little rushed in places? This seems to be the case, particularly with the vocals. I don't think Cooper spent enough time, fine-tuning (not auto-tuning) his voice, and recording these tracks properly. There are also errors in the mix. Listen to the chorus of Heart On A Platter, and see if you can hear the auto-tune mistakes in there. Once I heard that, the song got a whole lot worse.

4 good songs, 3 barely average songs and 1 horrible song "Heart On A Platter". As the above comment mentions, the vocals on the latter one are just unprofessional and bad and undeniably Royal Hunt's worst moment up until this album.
I haven't heard "Cast In Stone" but if the rating is lower than this one (although metal storm average ratings are not a solid indicator), then I fear for the worst.
