Rotting Christ can come up with some very good ideas sometimes. I hope this will be one of such sometimes

Seems like Alan Averill of Primordial has already had a taste of the new album, this is what he wrote on Facebook a few days ago:
"Well the new Rotting Christ has some curious side steps I didn't expect, generally much slower, epic and moving into soundtrack territory"

The album should really be called "Recycling". It's an almost tone-by-tone cover of their previous one.
There's not a single song here without a major theme reused from before.

Great band name
its not for children go listen thrash rated (PG13) metal which they use the same style of guitar ,drums, that's more recycle.
Oh yeah, sure. Laughing at Christianity is very original for a Metal band and shows a lot of maturity.

Gave it another spin, and it gets better. Overall solid stuff, all the songs are enjoyable to some extent (which wasn't the case since a while).
Problem is the lack of "fresh feel", as if I heard it all before. That lack of originality is palpable in Konx Om Pax (I can hear Innocence and Wrath there) or Devadevam (basically a Xibalba remix). Different vocal approaches thanks to guests does help in that department though.

It's not that I want to defend Christianity, even if it is the religion I grew up with. I'm quite aware that the Catholic Church is responsible for many atrocities and abuse of power. Truth is I don't give a fuck at religion and believe the world would do better without it.
It's just that in Metal so-called satanism and anti-Christianity has been so ridiculously overdone that it can get plain tedious. I can hardly imagine less original. I prefer by far when bands can come up with a different subject matter or at least talk of satanism in a more metaphysical/occult way.

Such a Satanic lyrics !!
'In Nomiene Dei Nostri' Satanas Luciferi Excelsi ( i've heard those words before on Kat - Diabelski Dom II (Devils House II years ago).
It is not a typical black metal album but still very 'original' and engrossing!

Wow. Its awesome. I wanna support the band this time. Gotta get a t-shirt. Love the atmosphere in the new album. Every song is upto rotting christs expertise. But devadavam is little ruined, there are much better atmospheric chants of kali. They instead chose devadamn. Now I wonder what are they gonna do in their next album? Satan himself must be envying rotting christ for doing what he would have wished to do. lol

Sakis Tolis said in a recent interview that with this album closes a circle that started from Theogonia. I hope that's the case musically and listen, at last, something new from the band.
Up to Theogonia, each of the albums had a different character and I really liked that, but from Theogonia onwards there is a repetition, a lack of creativity, with Aealo being the all time low for the band.
Rituals is saved by its overall atmosphere, just that.

I can agree with that. It seems to me that he should have closed the chapter with the last album, since it feels since Theogonia like he was trying to make the "right" album, hence it was all repetitive and very similar. Still one of the stronger BM band that are left.

I really like Rituals. Not as much as Kata Ton or Aealo or Theogonia, but there is some glorious "Metul" material here, espiecially in the first half. Unfortunately it seems to fall off after the first half of the album, which prevents me from loving it completely. Still, 8/10 would listen again

Fitting album title, as the songs feel more spiritual / ritualistic.

My favorite song on the album is "Les Litanies De Satan (Les Fleurs Du Mal)" and not because I like Baudelaire
It's quite simple and straightforward but I just love the French sounds in there and the vocals.
Not many other songs stand out to me but I guess I give it the benefit of the doubt because I'm a RC fangirl!

This thing is fucking great. I didn't think I'd like anything more than Theogonia, but this just might be it.
