Must listen more, but BaN part is definitely satisfying. I was maybe expecting something a bit more adventurous but a mix of Triunity and some 777 is good enough.

Now if they could just stop making splits with mediocre bands, it'd be even better! The Aevangelist part is almost unbearable with that awful production.

Good grief, the production on the Aevangelist track... What on Earth were they thinking? It's really getting in the way of trying to enjoy the music.

BaN side is amazing, I especially love the muddy production. Wish it lasted longer than 19 minutes.
Can't say the same for the Aevangelist track. I usually like/love them and I also enjoy their recent stuff, which is so underrated here, but JFC this *sounds* terrible. I hope I'll change my mind with further listens.

The Aevangelist side isn't so bad, though I'm not sure why it has to be over 20 minutes long. Didn't seem like enough was going on to warrant that length. Still, it's not as terrible as some of you are saying. Either that or I'm just pretty easy to please.

After further listens, the Aevangelist side is not *that* bad. Feels very disjoint and drum production still sounds terrible. I like that trippy/bassy part around 12:30, the vocals almost sound like rap at some point Not sure about the replay value, 20min seems hard to justify for such a track.

BaN side still owns.

Here are the problems with the Aevangelist track's production that I've noticed, most of which are serious rookie mistakes:

The snare (and possibly the entire drum track) has been side-chained so severely that it causes the rest of the mix to pump; the drum 'mics' have been compressed or automated which makes the whole drum track actually move around in the stereo field depending which part of the kit is most prominent. For example, when the snare moves to the left (which is very often) it's probably because the cymbals on the same side are being played at that moment.

Anyway the music is good but the mix makes it really hard to listen to.

Pleasant surprise of the year thus far. I really wasn't expecting this to be as good as it is. Possibly the best BAN release since Liber III, I would say. Their side really seems to recapture some of the magic of the 777 trilogy (particularly Desanctification), but also seems to be strangely psychedelic as well, both with the guitar tone (Resonances) and with the background effects that seem to create this "swirling vortex" type feeling (Infra-Voices Ensemble). Excellent work, it proves that BAN still have a bunch of tricks up their sleeves

I'm really regarding this as basically a Blut Aus Nord EP + 1 substandard Aevangelist track. By the time you get to that Aevangelist track the BAN side has just wowed you so much that it just seems so insignificant by comparison. Not to mention the production on it is really quite shit

Yeah I'm really just rating this based on the BAN side, viewing it as basically a Blut Aus Nord EP with some extra crap thrown on, since I really don't care about the Aevangelist side.

It's all kind of bad imo; cobbled together sounds, uninteresting dissonant riffs, ill-fitting hyperactive breakbeat-y drums and not great sound. Repetitive, unaffecting and forgettable. I really think BaN needs to give itself some time and reevaluate.
