Much like Prong's other bajillion albums released over the past 5 albums, there are definitely some fun guilty pleasure tracks here. Prong being Prong, so if you dig their past few albums you'll likely enjoy this too.

Honestly this one is hard. On one hand while the tracks do seem a bit more generic radio I can't help but enjoy most of them. I feel like if I give this a 7 then I would have to give the last album they did a 7, because I might be one of the few but I enjoyed this one far more for what it was. I also liked this one just a little bit more. Although I can see why some might not like this compared to the last albums they did. But I guess I'll keep my rate.

Sorry guys, but to me this album has very little of Prong's sound in it. I've given it about 3 listens all the way through, and even though it's not really a "bad album" (I do like quite a few of the songs), to me,the only tracks that have that familiar Prong sound are "The Whispers" and "Wasting of the Dawn". The rest of it sounds like some modern Djent-Thrash. That industrial / progressive sound that once was Prong in albums like "Prove You Wrong", "Cleansing", "Rude Awakening" and in recent years with "Carved Into Stone" and "Ruining Lives" is now almost non-existent. I mean, I'm all for bands experimenting with their sound and trying to evolve, but this evolution of Prong just doesn't do much for me.

The Ancient One
Has a few moments but not strong enough overall to merit even a 7. 6.5 for me, rounded down.

Best Prong album since 1996. Tommy no longer pronounces some words with the 'ay' at the end, like an emo teeny-booper, which is a good thing and the songs in general are better written. Also, the album is less commercial than the previous ones. Some of the tracks are terrific, just like in the old days such as the title track or Wasting of the Dawn.
