It took a while for Barren Earth to find their own identity beyond a supergroup sounding like Amorphis covering Opeth, but the biggest step came when Jón Aldará joined in 2014 as a vocalist and now A Complex Of Cages is his second album with the band. What gives?

This album is much better than I thought it would be. The album version of Withdrawal actually sounds much better than it did on Youtube. The new keyboardist does a great job too.

What in god's name is this? WOW, a band actually taking risks and experimenting. Sounds like Ayreon meets Amorphis meets Dream Theater meets Belakor. Love it! Good work guys, this is simply incredible!
