It has been stated many times that we're not about to feature every single metal band that has ever existed. Usually we only add already accomplished bands with at least one full-length release. Still, many bands escape our attention, so it's up to you to tell us which of them are the most worthy of being featured on Metal Storm.
Bands listed here are suggested for addition by our users. You can vote for these bands as well as provide additional comments - both of which will be taken into account when we look for the next band to feature on Metal Storm. If the band is not in the list, you can suggest it here (you need to be a registered member).
Make sure you also check the Blacklisted bands - these are the bands we're not going to add at all, since we feel they won't be appropriate for this website. Yes, some non-metal bands are already featured here, but that's not the reason to add a lot more - so we don't accept arguments like "hey, this band is way more metal than band X you have featured!".

In the Autumn of 2008, CHAOS IN PARADISE started taking their first steps in a small garage in Oporto suburbs, where Alex and Quik began to outline the identity of the band.
After a few days, they started searching for other musicians to complete CHAOS IN PARADISE and after a while they found Pedro for guitar, 19 for bass and Sara for the vocal parts.
With the band as a whole, the quintet began writing their first Demo which came out in February 2010, including the songs "Dawn", "Heading North", "The Meaning of Being Imposed" and "Antagonized".
The band recorded the Demo at their own studio and released and distributed the four songs online for free!
After, CHAOS IN PARADISE began their live shows through Portugal, to promote their work and also to obtain experience as a band.
In the beginning of 2011, the band returned to the rehearsal room to start writing their following work, trying a new aproach to improve their sound, bringing their own identity to it and making it more coherent.
With the pre-production on the bagage, the recording sessions of the EP started in March 2011 at Soundvision Studios in Vila do Conde with Paulo Lopes in the co-production.
From the EP entitled "Let the Bliss Remain" the band released their first single "Awareness" to the fans and press, aquiring unanimous opinions expressing that their evolution and sound quality had a huge improvement.
With the "Let the Bliss Remain" presentation and release in June 2011, CHAOS IN PARADISE came back to the road to promote their EP in Portugal, having already some International shows in mind.
At the moment, they're planning to edit their first album in 2012.

Ugh those weak screams...a better vocalist would be a huge improvement.

Side project of AAL frontman Tosin Abasi and members of The Mars Volta and Suicidal Tendencies. Not the most metal sound in the world, but there are clear metal undertones. Interesting art!
08.03.2012 - R'Vannith
Wouldn't call them djent but yeah interesting stuff.
31.03.2012 - João Pirucas
This is much more Jazz Fusion than Djent but it's awesome nonetheless. That connotation is there just because Tosin and Javier are part of the band, in my opinion. Good addition to the site anyways. +1

Great band with a great album (Lingua Franca), Terrazas, Reyes, Abasi & Moore, fresh sound, awesome performance and production with awesome drum works.

Insense deserves to be on Metal Storm because they are not much known outside of norway. Insense is a fantastic bands and should be heard by so many others than just norwegians that are interested in that kind of music.
The vocalist/guitarist Tommy Hjelm also plays with Benea Reach sometimes

It has been a while since being really blown away from a new discovery.
ProFusion is a bit hard to categorize, combining Progressive Metal riffs, Eclectic stuff a la Beardfish, and catchiness like, well... It just gets stuck in your mind and won't go away.
I've yet to have listened to their first album, but their second one (Rewotower) has really blown me away.
The first song of the album (Ghost House) is available on their Reverbnation page.

I'm just not impressed with bands like this these days...all this type of prog is the same. Sounds like watered down DT...

very good...I also listened to a preview of their third album, really nice ...

It's kinda rare to see a band with old influences nowadays. And, to be honest, I think that what they say about rock'n'roll is true:
"ROCK'N'ROLL IS NOT ABOUT TECHNIQUES AND 32-NOTES-A-SECOND SOLOS, IT'S ABOUT TOUCHING PEOPLE WITH YOUR MUSIC".

Ace Of Hearts is a "supergroup" with members of Secret Sphere, Icon & the Black Roses and Odd Dimension, his debut album "Monster" is a MUST for the fans of the genre!

"Sår" (Sar) is a solo project in Depressive Suicidal Black Metal (DSBM) genre which started in 2008 by its only member "Don Andolini" in the north of Iran. The word "Sår" has been taken from one of the Sortsind's song titles with the same name, and it means "Wounds" in English.

It's a band from Cyprus, a country that doesn't have such a big metal scene and the black metal scene is almost nothing. This makes the band's work more original and that they really care about metal and release material that express what they are and what they feel.

Here's a pretty amazing melodeath band I discovered a while ago. Surprisingly underrated and still going pretty unnoticed, especially since they have been around since 1997. They have three full-length albums, two EP's and a demo. They use a pretty deep, low growl, which I think is pretty similar to the vocals Brendan Small uses for Nathan Explosion for Dethklok, but also incorporating clean vocals and screams which are used more often in their later work. They make good use of their keyboard as you hear that taking a lot of the lead melodies. The guitars fit nicely with some pretty good melodies and rhythms. I really like how the guitars and the keyboard share lead melodies and it's not just dominated by one or the other. The drumming is also done very well with some great fills and good use of double bass. Definitely a band worth checking out, I would suggest "Let Chaos Come", one of my personal favorites, and not just from the band, but of everything.

Morannon rose from the ashes of other symphonic, ambient projects in early 2008. Featuring lyrical themes pertaining to Middle-Earth and a strong inclination towards epic, medieval melodies; Morannon is sure to stand out amongst the overcrowded ambient metal scene. So far, one entirely instrumental demo and a new album in the making.

Execration is just about to release its second album, which has already received praise in several publications. It was recently heralded as one of the best albums this decade by none other than Darkthrone's Fenriz (http://www.myspace.com/officialdarkthrone/blog/542840550). Execration delivers death metal closer to the old school than the new school, but with twists of inspiration from more experimental acts like Voivod, Deathspell Omega and other.

Pretty good BM. They show a lot of promise, I highly recommend their debut, "Rise From The Void".
"Mormânt De Snagov was founded in 2008 by Domnul Cadavru in Southwest Finland. The aim of the project was to create stripped-down black metal. Mormânt De Snagov respects classical black metal influences immensely, but also explores new territories boldly and adds new aspects to the genre. A great part of the lyrics have risen from the frustration towards the hypocritical religious community and are openly blasphemous. Also, as the name of the band suggests, Domnul Cadavru is fascinated by the Southeast European legends; some of the lyrics are dealing with such concepts as immortality and the resurrection of evil."

Travelling from Electro to Metal, blending together the best of Darkwave and Gothic, mixing the spirit of classical orchestrations to the lower instincts of industrial sounds, the heavy and heady riffs of alchemist Ben Notox, and the seductive and haunting vocals of siren Jensara Swann, take the listener into a whirlwind of emotions.
Emerging from the chaos of creation during the ending hours of year 2004, THE VEIL released their first musical legacy in march 2006 with their debut EP, Sleeping Among Serpents, immediately outlined by major music magazines around the world as a band of a new kind, with an already unique and fascinating identity for a newcomer band.
2007 will see the birth of a digital EP," Reveilations", offered by the band as free download on their web platforms, followed shortly by the maxi album" Vestige", unleashed upon the world in april 2008 and rapidly confirming the potential and place of the band in the alternative scene. After many gigs through France and a european tour opening for German gothic kings, Samsas Traum, the band was invited to play the legendary Wave Gothik Treffen Festival in Leipzig, elected one of the best new bands of the year by Sonic Seducer magazine (German Number 1 gothic magazine) and selected for french Hellfest contest.
From then on, these pirates haven't stopped wandering the roads of Rock n Roll, playing on their way the legendary Underworld venue in London, or the cult Metal Female Voices Festival In Wieze, Belgium, winning Ivan de Prume (White Zombie) Sonicbids Contest on his renowned Metalopolis Radio show, while preparing a brand new full length album to be recorded and released in 2011 !

Jacula is an Italian progressive rock band founded in 1968 in Milan as an experiment by Antonio Bartoccetti, Doris Norton, Charles Tiring and Franz Porthenzy. Their debut album "In Cauda Semper Stat Venenum" which has been confused for an 80s doom metal album was allegedly released in 1969, but it seems highly unlikely (yet it was released before 1973). Despite that it was still extremely dark and heavy music for its time.
18.06.2011 - IWILLBREAKTHEE
I Will Break Thee was created in mid 2009 by Shane Bryant as a solo project. Later that year Shane joined forces with friend and guitarist Justin Lunsford and the two began scultping ideas for the band. The main focus of the band is too have well written, well thought out heavy music. Influences of Lamb Of God, Pantera, and Opeth are quite apparent with heavy groove and flow added into the mix. In mid 2010 guitarist Rafiq Basaria began to sit in on demo sessions and was officially added to the band, as well as keyboard player Marc Sugarman. Early January, IWBT recruited drummer Andols Herrick to help record their debut EP "Welcome To My Kingdom" for a world wide release slated for a summer of 2011 release. Halfway through the recording the search was on for a permanant bass player and drummer. The band chose bassist Jared Golden and drummer Daniel Blume. You can currently listen to 2 released tracks from the upcoming EP at www.IWILLBREAKTHEE.com Coming to a city near you.

Not sure how to describe them; they label themselves as Black/Death but it sounds more like Thrash with some metalcore-ish riffs. Vocalist sounds kinda like Silent Circus-era Tommy Rogers.

In the year of 2008, Shadows of Paragon spent most of their rehearsal time in the studio recording and producing their first full-length album. The album was recorded in various studios, and mixed in Studio Fredman where among others, Dimmu Borgir, Dark Tranquility, In Flames, Soilwork and Arch Enemy have mixed their albums. The album was then mastered in Tailor Maid Studios.
While waiting for the debut album "Through the Valley Within", a promotional EP by the name "Fear of Being Forever Lost" has been put together for free download

Industrial Black/Death Metal band from Italy. They have released three albums : Progression of Impurity (2000, Kick Promotion Agency), Vivere di Male/The Evil Within (2002, Darkside Promotion), H.I.V. Parade (2004, Il Male Productions). At the moment they are looking for a label to release the new album.
IMPURE DOMAIN was born in the end of 1998, by the union of Angy and Mikheil. The band recorded " Progression to impurity in 1999, printed on cd- format in 2000 thanx to Kick Promotion Agency. In 2002 " Vivere di male/The evil within" was out (DarkSide Promotion), and it embodies the will to follow new ways, an experimental travel in which ya can find black metal, avantgarde, electro- trance, while the lyrics follow the nihilistik path (Cioran, Celine, esoteric studies). In the summer of 2004 IMPURE DOMAIN finishes the recording sessions of " HIV Parade" (Il Male Production, 2004), their most extreme album ever, weird, apocalyptic, visionaire and full of technique. The new elements are: 2 tracks composed by Mord (Tronus Abyss), the adoption of W. Burroughs' "cut- up" writing/ method (thanx also to the experience of Tenyodene, vocalist' s wife, who speaks in the cd, too), the use of a drum- machine.

August 2007 Bruno (guitar) met Joao (Drums) in a music studio located in Brussels. They were playing along during a casting organised by a female singer who wanted to create a new Rock Band. However, this session wouldn't last more than one time, but Bruno and Joao kept in touch and decided to organize little jam sessions. Two weeks later, Bruno invite Benoit (Bass guitar), his childhood's friend, to play with them. From this combination of different kind of influence, the first composition of EARTHLIGHT was born… Along those Jam sessions, a Voice was needed and several castings were organised. During the month of October, their choice was made. They turned their decision to Valérie. An original female "Mezzo" voice, singing amazingly high, could catch their attention and give to the band a new form of music. Mixing Opera voices, to Metal guitars with some leads of jazzy-classical drums&bass beats. Our four musician choose this enigmatic name of EARTHLIGHT and their first song, arranged together, was born " SEUL(E) ". In April 2008, the band counts, already, 3 new songs, but they realized that a certain melodic part is missing to complete those beautiful harmonies. Therefore, they were looking for a keyboard. … Julien, non-closer parent of Benoit, came into the project and brought with him his long and professional music experience. Sharing his knowledge for harmonics and chords, he gave to the band a new approach of melodic surroundings. By completing solos and accentuating voices harmonics, the keyboard gives to the band his own musical path. An original Progressive Lyric Metal band was born.

Lo and truly behold! A hellish new band has emerged from the quagmire that is the extreme music scene.
Imagine a cauldron bubbling over with the unsavory flavors of Tool and Celtic Frost, and seasoned with the likes of Immortal and At The Gates, and you'd be about halfway to describing the uncouth racket these guys have spat upon an unsuspecting planet.
Calling themselves the 'Temple Of The Black Moon', the group (who describe their output as 'Music for an evil Film Noir') are an eclectic stew of musicians/hell-raisers/miscreants in the ungainly form of Dani Filth (Cradle Of Filth), Rob Caggiano (Anthrax/The Damned Things), King (formerly of Gorgoroth and Ov Hell) and John Tempesta (Formerly of White Zombie and now drumming with The Cult). Explaining the origins of the name, vo-killist Dani Filth had this to mutter on the subject...
We had an innumerable amount of names that never seemed likely to stick, that was until we put our proverbial heads together and narrowed it down to just three or four, and then tossed for it (proverbially of course) using a silver Norwegian crown (we couldn't find any proper money). The name Temple Of The Black Moon represents the rigorous worship of desire, (the black moon astrologically has always held association with the dark Goddess Lilith) and of course the ramifications of the lunar eclipse, always a herald for death and ill-omen.
So far almost an album's worth of material has been demoed, with the band hooking up in the darkest depths of Bergen, Norway to collectively thrash it out. Song titles thus far include 'Infernal Desire Machine', 'Don't Call Up What You Can't Put Down', 'Dark Eyes For Trouble', 'Beautifully Perverse' and C.N.T (All that's missing is you). .
An album and subsequent live dates are expected to happen around mid 2012.

The main goal of A TORTURED SOUL, formed 2002 in Milwaukee / Wisconsin, is quite obviously to develope the mystical and theatrical style of the danish heavy metal royalty MERCYFUL FATE respectively KING DIAMOND onward to something fresh and furious, filled with youthful power. This has been evident on their privately released 2005 debut album already, which saw a reissue in a changed version on a german label in 2007 and it has been done thoughtfully with respect to the masters. Right now in 2010, after joining the ranks of PURE STEEL RECORDS recording artists, they continue from the point where their debut album ended.
These guys don't take the easiest way, they arrange their songs thoughtfully with playful structures, powerful grinding riffs with a mystical approach, nearly excessive lead axe eruptions and exciting moments only the diamond king could create with such an intensity. There are surprising twist and turns within the songs all over the album, crowned with an extremely charismatic singer, who still dares to bow before the grand master of Danish horror metal.
