It has been stated many times that we're not about to feature every single metal band that has ever existed. Usually we only add already accomplished bands with at least one full-length release. Still, many bands escape our attention, so it's up to you to tell us which of them are the most worthy of being featured on Metal Storm.
Bands listed here are suggested for addition by our users. You can vote for these bands as well as provide additional comments - both of which will be taken into account when we look for the next band to feature on Metal Storm. If the band is not in the list, you can suggest it here (you need to be a registered member).
Make sure you also check the Blacklisted bands - these are the bands we're not going to add at all, since we feel they won't be appropriate for this website. Yes, some non-metal bands are already featured here, but that's not the reason to add a lot more - so we don't accept arguments like "hey, this band is way more metal than band X you have featured!".

Side project of AAL frontman Tosin Abasi and members of The Mars Volta and Suicidal Tendencies. Not the most metal sound in the world, but there are clear metal undertones. Interesting art!
08.03.2012 - R'Vannith
Wouldn't call them djent but yeah interesting stuff.
31.03.2012 - João Pirucas
This is much more Jazz Fusion than Djent but it's awesome nonetheless. That connotation is there just because Tosin and Javier are part of the band, in my opinion. Good addition to the site anyways. +1

Great band with a great album (Lingua Franca), Terrazas, Reyes, Abasi & Moore, fresh sound, awesome performance and production with awesome drum works.

In the Autumn of 2008, CHAOS IN PARADISE started taking their first steps in a small garage in Oporto suburbs, where Alex and Quik began to outline the identity of the band.
After a few days, they started searching for other musicians to complete CHAOS IN PARADISE and after a while they found Pedro for guitar, 19 for bass and Sara for the vocal parts.
With the band as a whole, the quintet began writing their first Demo which came out in February 2010, including the songs "Dawn", "Heading North", "The Meaning of Being Imposed" and "Antagonized".
The band recorded the Demo at their own studio and released and distributed the four songs online for free!
After, CHAOS IN PARADISE began their live shows through Portugal, to promote their work and also to obtain experience as a band.
In the beginning of 2011, the band returned to the rehearsal room to start writing their following work, trying a new aproach to improve their sound, bringing their own identity to it and making it more coherent.
With the pre-production on the bagage, the recording sessions of the EP started in March 2011 at Soundvision Studios in Vila do Conde with Paulo Lopes in the co-production.
From the EP entitled "Let the Bliss Remain" the band released their first single "Awareness" to the fans and press, aquiring unanimous opinions expressing that their evolution and sound quality had a huge improvement.
With the "Let the Bliss Remain" presentation and release in June 2011, CHAOS IN PARADISE came back to the road to promote their EP in Portugal, having already some International shows in mind.
At the moment, they're planning to edit their first album in 2012.

Needs at least one full length.

Ugh those weak screams...a better vocalist would be a huge improvement.

Insense deserves to be on Metal Storm because they are not much known outside of norway. Insense is a fantastic bands and should be heard by so many others than just norwegians that are interested in that kind of music.
The vocalist/guitarist Tommy Hjelm also plays with Benea Reach sometimes

It has been a while since being really blown away from a new discovery.
ProFusion is a bit hard to categorize, combining Progressive Metal riffs, Eclectic stuff a la Beardfish, and catchiness like, well... It just gets stuck in your mind and won't go away.
I've yet to have listened to their first album, but their second one (Rewotower) has really blown me away.
The first song of the album (Ghost House) is available on their Reverbnation page.

I'm just not impressed with bands like this these days...all this type of prog is the same. Sounds like watered down DT...

Ace Of Hearts is a "supergroup" with members of Secret Sphere, Icon & the Black Roses and Odd Dimension, his debut album "Monster" is a MUST for the fans of the genre!

It's kinda rare to see a band with old influences nowadays. And, to be honest, I think that what they say about rock'n'roll is true:
"ROCK'N'ROLL IS NOT ABOUT TECHNIQUES AND 32-NOTES-A-SECOND SOLOS, IT'S ABOUT TOUCHING PEOPLE WITH YOUR MUSIC".
18.04.2009 - Dr.Rock
It's kinda rare to see a band with old influences nowadays?
....uhhhh, which planet are you living on?

"Sår" (Sar) is a solo project in Depressive Suicidal Black Metal (DSBM) genre which started in 2008 by its only member "Don Andolini" in the north of Iran. The word "Sår" has been taken from one of the Sortsind's song titles with the same name, and it means "Wounds" in English.

Early Man is part of the new wave of bands trying to bring back the 80's speed/thrash metal sound in the U.S. and I believe these types of bands need more global exposure.
Metal Storm is a great global community and would be a nice place to help getting the bands name out.
24.03.2011 - Ariesfire
A phenomenal band! A shame they're not already recognized on here.
22.09.2010 - Asunder

ok.. i'm suggesting my own metal project: Leon's Till the End. I don't know.. I think I make good music, a lot of people like it and your community seems like an excellent place to know new metal bands. I've just made my first single, to be sold on iTunes, ShockHound and Napster, and i've got a lot of downloads. My band RainFire is well known in Italy where we play a lot, and I think the first solo single of its lead singer is an important news for you to include in your site. Thanks a lot. Leon

Formed in 2004 as "session musicians" at the expense of a solo Portuguese "artist", FramePictures came to the idea of using the opportunity to start up a new band, in the likes of "Planet X vs. Tool".
The band took off following diverse directions musically, with various moods and style choices from song to song, which obviously pointed to having fewer songs but longer and meshed up pieces instead. With the main structural backbone or "frame" figured out, then the band tried out with old progressive-rock references from the late '70's and '80's to add tiny bits of flavoring musical expertise, hence the "pictures".
FramePictures entered the studio in 2009 with sound engineer and co-producer Ivo Magalhães and made the "Remember It" album.
FramePictures' "Remember It" is a seven song album that expresses musically the plunge into the deepness of the subconscious human mind. The conceptual 78 minutes long album is FramePictures' display of this point of view through a series of complex arrangements and long "virtuoso" guitar and keyboard solos, mixed with the simplicity and a-kind-of straight forward approach to songwriting, adding to it the odd time signatures and tempo changes that are trademarks of progressive-rock. "Remember It" is a re-interpretation of the progressive-rock genre, more than a re-invention, bringing to the 21st century the same non-conformism and artistic breakthrough expression that was so fresh with visionaire musicians like Robert Fripp, Brian Eno, Thom Yorke and Steven Wilson.
Varying from the most aggressive post-metal guitar riffs to the intimate warmth of the grand piano, "Remember It" is stretching from left to right of the rock repertoire, including the 25 minutes conceptual seven-part epic song "My Will to Live".
"Remember It" was recorded at IM Studios, Matosinhos, Portugal and was produced by Artur Jorge, co-produced, engineered and mixed by Ivo Magalhães and mastered by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Paradise Lost, Symphony X) at Fascination Street Studios, Orebro, Sweden.
FramePictures' "Remember It" is the debut album of the band, released worldwide through Galileo Records GmbH and ProgRock Records (USA).

They have released one album 'Ohne Dich' (2004). They currently have no official website, so i've added their Last.fm page. Their female singer won an award for best operatic voice too.
06.03.2011 - Starchild
One of the best instrumental prog metal I ever heard. Their debut album 'The Outer Planes' (2010) is amazing, one of the best albums of the last year.

Long-running Melbourne Death Metal band who have just released their new album "Perception Perverse". a regular giging band in Australia. Catchy as all fuck. Raw vocals, killer leads, etc. Thats why!
18.09.2010 - Tjidobo
This band started in 2005 and has given some beautiful shows in The Netherlands and in Belgium. They make very good progressive metal, with they're own sound. In 2007 they won the "Groninger Popprijs '07" and they have played at some pretty impressive venues. Well, just listen, it's great :)
18.09.2010 - RocknRaven
I love psychedelic music. These guys have got my vote!
16.09.2010 - Die Hacker [PT]
Amazing avantgarde band i've discovered recently, mixing jazz, slow & fast tempos with a thrashy druming and almost no vocals besides occasional screams, these guys will for sure deliver for avangarde metal fans!
04.12.2010 - Uirapuru
Oh my god this has to be here! To complete John Zorn's in the collection =P +1000
09.09.2010 - MeloDeathViking
These guys play progressive metalcore very similar to that of Protest the Hero, the main difference being that harsh vocals only appear on one song on the album, and that they appear courtesy of a guest vocalist. The vocals are what will probably separate the fans from the haters, as they are more in the still of poppy punk and hardcore bands. The instrument work is very intricate and executed with great skill. If you don't mind something different, and are willing to give clean poppy vocals a shot, definitely give these guys a listen.
