Joe Nunez (born June 18, 1975 in Chicago, Illinois, USA) is the former drummer for heavy metal bands Soulfly and current drummer for Stripping the Pistol. He joined Soulfly in 2001, only to leave again in 2003 to join the Chicago based Stripping the Pistol but re-joined them in 2005. He has played on four Soulfly records all released by Roadrunner records. His other band Stripping the Pistol will be releasing their self-titled record through Floga Records on a limited edition vinyl version in February 2010.
He is known for his energetic performances, fast drumming & friendly nature.
He once was the victim of criticism from Slayer guitarist Kerry King, who claimed that Nunez refused to join Slayer because "his mother wouldn't let him", after Nunez auditioned for the thrash metal band in 2001 upon recommendation from then ex-drummer Dave Lombardo.
