Biography

Born from the ashes of a band called THE CHOSEN ONES, DEAFENING SILENCE was created in 1997. Guillaume, Phil and Sébastien Spadafora (guitar) are quickly joined by Romain on the drums Julien on vocal. The band will give its first show with that formation in October of this year at the MJC of Silvange.
Some months after their arrival, in April for being precise , the starts the recording of its first demo called " Tales From The Seven Stars ". That demo was recorded during only two days at the A.M.P.E.R. studio of Clouange by Jean Pascal Boffo. The nine titles on that cd are old from THE CHOSEN ONES's era. The band begind to write new songs more axed Heavy Metal and give some concerts.
In March, the band contact a sound engineer form the A.M.P.E.R. studio called Félix Paci to record 4 new titles in their local of rehearsal. The songs on " Between Two Worlds " begin to show the new identity of the combo and the live shows begin to be less chaotic. One copy of that cd goes to Brennus-music for a potential distribution but the band is contacted by Alain Ricard that told them he received a cd box? empty. DEAFENING SILENCE send another cd and Alain seems to be interested but he wants to hear something more professional. DEAFENING SILENCE is more motivated than never and composes new songs in hope to sign a contract with Brennus-music but they don't forget to give some concerts.
With six new songs, the combo goes to the Pitch Black Studio to get out after two weeks with " Muse ". For the band, it's the first demo cd recorded in separated tracks and the sound was a little bit more worked. The band also welcome some months later a third guitarist called Michael, the goal is raising a sound wall with three guitars. Alain Ricard receives a copy and seems to be please by the work done by the band. There is sign of a contract but tensions appear in the band and the hypothetical collaboration with Brennus Music is put in stand-by.
The decision falls in Spring and DEAFENING SILENCE parts from Sébastien to get back in traditional format with two guitars. That year will be used to write a big part of the tracks appearing on the album " Edge Of Life ". It's also during this year that they get in contact with Alain Blanc, ex-Dream Child, who give them a lot of advices thanks to his experience. The band gives more concerts and they slowly begins to make them a good reputation.
Serious things begin that year. The entire album is now written and perfectly into its stride , and in Summer DEAFENING SILENCE finally meets Alain Ricard and plays to him the whole album. The feet beat of Alain put the band in confidence and his conclusion is a deliverance. He announces them he's ready to sign them for one album and plans the release of the album in the first months of 2003. Each member has to break into his piggy bank and they pool the necessary fund to lock them every October and November week-end in the A.M.P.E.R. studio to bear what is gonna be their first album. The recording unfolds more or less good with shouting sessions and slanging matches, but the band gets out more unified.
In January, DEAFENING SILENCE goes back a too short week-end to make the mixing. There's no more money in the bank, and they must satisfy them with those two days to mix the album. It's life but the pride to have recorded an album erase that little deception. The album is out in April and the band gives some concerts to promote " Edge Of Life " and is the guest of Jeff Scott Soto during his passage at Eloyes. Things are quiet ok this year.
After having made several concerts last year, it's high time for the five guys to write new songs. It's a real team work compared to those an the first album who were more individual work. DEAFENING SILENCE takes a musical direction a little bit different with titles more raw, more smashing and a bit more rock n' roll. And the reaction of the audience during concerts are more than heartening. This same year, the band also sold one licence in Russia and one in Brazil.
The new songs are practically all finished, it just remains some arrangements to do to give a successor to " Edge Of Life "? and also find necessary fund for the recording. But DEAFENING SILENCE stays confident for the future of the combo. Nevertheless, in April and after several weeks of reflections, Julien leave the band. Problems of schedule are mainly at the origin of his departure. The singer of MORPHEUS EMBRACE, Nicolas Griette, comes to apply and after two days of rehearsal he becomes the new voice of DEAFENING SILENCE.
Deafening Silence returns in studio to give "Edge Of Life" a successor. Bass/drums parts are recorded during January 2006 and the rest are recorded in home studio to take the time for arrangements. During summer, the band looks for a new deal to release "Backlash" but in November, Romain leaves the band. After 2 months of try out, the new drummer is found and he's called Eric Totti.
