La Torture Des Ténèbres - Civilization Is The Tomb Of Our Noble Gods lyrics

02. The Great Escape From Capricorn City

Behold the monuments of our predecessors and despair
Colossal infrastructures within which we live out our pitiful lives
A man is a cypher in these times
His contributions redundant and insignificant in the face of millions of triumphs past
The days of glory are long gone, swallowed by oceans of reverence
Civilization offers us but one choice
Conform to the collective architecture or perish beneath the weight of aeons
Echoes of history resound through the cityscape, deafening and vast
Suffocating us with the immense magnitude of their existence
None shall stand against the work of centuries
The framework of our modern lives that guides us through the infinite metropolis
We must bow down to the towers of idolatry at the end of every year to appease the colossus residing within

04. The Doom Of New Orleans

Communications have become our curse
Their thoughts slowly became her own before she could even formulate her own perceptions of the world
Streets flooded with centuries of rain and long clogged sewers forgotten
Pooling into mires of popular corruption
Broadcasts from the phantom district have found their way into our cities
Invisible fingers reaching into the minds of our youth
Damned to follow insidious trends
Leading us all towards our untimely demise in their watery depths
To drown in insidious trends
There is a giant resting within these walls
The great corpse of mankind lies encased within our concrete monuments
Skyscrapers enclose gargantuan limbs reaching in vain towards the sky

05. Machine Flesh Of The City Girl

In a world drenched in splendor, you are afraid to appear as flawed
You separate your organic, intangible self from the facade you present to the populace
You must never let them see your true face or their derision shall rain down upon you
You know that your scars are unacceptable and for this you despise them just as your detractors would
You long to live free of this suffocating idealism that dictates your every choice
You pray that you will find acceptance within these walls
But you know that in a marvelous, mechanical world, there is no place for a less than perfect girl

06. Broadcasts From The Phantom District

Forces beyond your perception are conspiring to mold you into an individual who will unknowingly allow extrinsic entities to command and drain the volitional velocity of her actions for the entire duration of her lifespan
The concepts that delineated your understanding of the world are no longer products of your cognition but imprints of our collective architecture upon your impressionable mind
Looming spires and endless cityscapes exist to remind you of the relative insignificance of your transient self in the face of centuries of lifeless industry
Send your projections down into the machinery of this vast infrastructure and pray that they will somehow be integrated, as it is statistically certain that your individuality has already been lost to the molders of mind

08. Into The Metropolitan Abyss; Final Movement

Perpetually in flight from an irreversibly regrettable lifetime of humiliations
Events that still resound in your every perception to this very day
Your view of this world has been irreversibly damaged by countless failures and disillusionments
Why then do you still continue when your endeavors stand untouched and unfinished?
Their construction has been suspended indefinitely in anticipation of floods of future trauma
Oceans that may never come without structural shifts in your plane's current rendition
Shifts that only you can bring about; but only by the hands of others will these calamities descend
To counter the ascending monuments of your volition and prolong the astrological balance
Yet this universal equilibrium transcends sociocultural divisions, extending its inverted benevolence to all wrought from our collective machine flesh
Flesh designed by urban architects to serve the gods dwelling within us
But to ensure the preservation of our fragile species
We were not made to find salvation within
But in the gods beckoning without
