Mourning Beloveth - Formless
These guys will make you wait for their new output for a long time. But when it arrives, you know it is worth the wait. It really is.

Sulphur Aeon - Swallowed By The Ocean's Tide
The dense, suffocating atmosphere of H.P. Lovecraft's stories has finally found a good sonic equivalent - death metal with quite a bit of black thrown in the mix. Add expert execution and appropriately oppressive production and you get a winner.

Led Zeppelin - Celebration Day
An inspired live performance by one of the most important and influential rock bands of all time. A mandatory listen for anyone who claims to know anything about metal, or where metal comes from.
You don't neet to love it, but you need to know it.

|
Hooded Menace - Effigies Of Evil
Perhaps a tad weaker than their older releases, but still a joyride full of creepy melodies that creep out from between heavy-as-lead riffs.

P.H.O.B.O.S. - Atonal Hypermnesia
| Completely deranged |
17.05.2012
|
Take Blut Aus Nord's Procession of the Dead Clowns, slow it down to glacial pace, completely dehumanize guitars, subdue the vocals to the point of non-existence, and add tons of sick reverb. Spice up with dementia and insanity. That's Atonal Hypermnesia for you. Read review ››

Hands Of Despair - Hereafter
Why am I hearing the best album of 2011 in 2012, for blue fuck's sake? Instead of trying to define the band myself, let me quote their own words: "a mixture of the heaviness of death metal, the intensity of black metal, the ambiance of doom metal and the complex structures of progressive metal". Fuck my descriptions, listen to the music. Make sure to listen to the whole album, it's very diverse and genuinely breathtaking.

Onirophagus - Defiler Of Hope
| Death/doom, more death than doom |
30.04.2012
|
While not the biggest purveyor of great metal bands, Spain apparently has some hidden gems here and there, and this is one of them. Great, pulverizing riffs, surprising tempo changes and overall coolness of this band shouldn't go unnoticed.
If you're into either doom or death, you should enjoy Onirophagus.
Have a taste here.

Asphyx - Deathhammer
| Death metal as it's supposed to be. |
26.02.2012
|
Screw all your tech death bullshit fretboard wankers who forgot what death metal is and only churn out chaotic assemblies of soulless hogwash mistakenly called music. Asphyx is the shit, ladies and gentlemen. Let Deathhammer pulverize you. Read review ››

Lord Vicar - Signs Of Osiris
Classic doom metal doesn't get better than this. If you want an album that you will remember every single song off of, this is the one.

Mournful Congregation - The Book Of Kings
If you know the band, you know what to expect. They deliver what you expect and then some. Less than 5% of metal population will appreciate this morose journey. It's better to be among the few than among many...

Machine Head - Unto The Locust
| Energized energetic energy |
25.09.2011
|
The songs are still too long at times, but the irressistible enegry that squirts from every note of this album is truly overwhelming. Machine Head have just released what could possibly be their best album since the classic Burn My Eyes. Read review ››

Symphony X - Iconoclast
| Progressive Thrash |
12.07.2011
|
I usually try to pick less known stuff, but this time it has to be Symphony X. Iconoclast is utterly brilliant. It's the most brilliant release I've heard in 3 years. It's also the best-produced fucking brilliant metal album in history. Oh, did I mention that it's brilliant? Read review ››

Byfrost - Of Death
| Thrashy Black Metal |
29.06.2011
|
Byfrost is now less thrashy and more blacky than on their debut, Black Earth, but it's still a wonderful, in-your-face, straightforward slab of unadulterated black metal filth. Groovy as hell too. Watch your head, and prepare for severe neck pains tomorrow morning. Read review ››

Enthrope - Tomorrow's Dead Days
| Atmospheric Dark/Death |
22.06.2011
|
A surprisingly mature, deliciously adept and well-sounding debut album. Remember Barren Earth? Enthrope don't stand too far apart, yet they manage to be unique enough. Powerful and crisp production compliments this sleeper hit. Read review ››
