Augury - Debut Album To Be Reissued

Official press release

Canadian-based Sonic Unyon Metal are proud to announce that they'll officially reissue Concealed, the classic first album from progressive death metal outfit Augury, this March.

Originally released in 2004 via Galy Records, this updated version features a fully remastered recording of the album, also expanded to include two bonus tracks from the band's 2006 demo. This definitive edition will also be packaged in a new digipak format, designed by Sven De Calluwe of Aborted.

Formed in Montreal, Quebec at the end of 2001, Augury immediately made an impact in the Canadian death metal scene with their technical/classically-inspired progressive death metal attack. The unit entered the studio with Yannick St-Amand (Martyr, Unexpect) in 2004 to record their Concealed debut. The record was mixed by Jean-Francois Dagenais (Kataklysm, Misery Index) and then set loose upon the anxious public. After the release of Concealed, Augury signed with Nuclear Blast Records, who in 2009 unveiled the band's critically acclaimed 2009 album Fragmentary Evidence, further cementing the band's name into the upper ranks of the progressive death scene.

Sonic Unyon Metal will re-unleash Concealed to North American audiences on March 8th, 2011.

Concealed cover art] tracklist:

01. Beatus
02. ...Ever Know Peace Again
03. Cosmic Migration
04. Nocebo
05. Alien Shores
06. In Russian Dolls Universes
07. Becoming God
08. The Lair Of Purity

Augury - Part Ways With Bassist

Montreal-based metallers Augury have issued the following update on their MySpace blog:

"Hello to all,

After eight years of collaboration, we are sad to announce that we had to part way with our bass player Dominic "Forest" Lapointe. We keep in mind his outstanding musical input and volcanic stage presence, and thank him for helping to shape the sound of Augury.

But the show must go on and we are actually starting "The American Defloration" tour with The Black Dahlia Murder, Obscura and Hatesphere, with a very special rhythm section featuring Quebec City jazz player Christian Pacaud (MAG Project) on bass, and our long-time friend Tommy McKinnon (formerly of Neuraxis) behind the drum kit.

With such great personnel on board, we are eager to give American ears a good scrub once again!"

Augury - Part Ways With Drummer

Montreal-based metallers Augury have issued the following update:

"We sadly have to announce that drummer Antoine Baril has decided to retire from the band."

Antoine Baril stated: "I'm very sad to have to announce my departure from Augury. Some personal and professional reasons made multiple touring impossible for me at the moment. I wish all the best for Augury because those wonderful guys are making incredibly good music. I will never forget those memorable shows and I would like to thank everyone for their support on the road everywhere we've been on tour."

The band added: "We thank Antoine for all the good times and excellent music, and we wish him well in all aspects of his life. He will remain a close friend for all of us. For the upcoming tour with Vader, drummer Robin "Frog" Stone from Australian industrial metal mad scientists The Amenta will take over the drum throne. He is a very tight and skilled drummer, having learned our set in a matter of hours. Here is a video of Robin in action.

We have a new drummer ready in Montreal for the upcoming tours. Videos and name will be revealed soon."
