Black/death metal blasphemers Belphegor have been forced to cancel their Russian tour, after frontman Helmuth "Hel" Lehner was attacked at the St. Petersburg airport. Now, for the first time after the incident, the band has released a statement regarding what happened. Three of their shows were cancelled and in Moscow, the sound engineer was forced to mute the vocals because of their lyrical content. Basically, it was a disaster.
Russia hasn't exactly been very friendly to certain metal bands, including Cannibal Corpse, Behemoth and more recently, Batushka as well. The latest victim was Belphegor, more specifically frontman Helmuth "Hel" Lehner who was spat on and attacked by a Christian Orthodox activist, Anatoly Artyukhov, at the airport in St. Petersburg in Russia. Belphegor arrived for a tour with Nile and Melechesh. You can watch the incident on the video below, where Nile's Karl Sanders helped calm down the situation.
The diabolical death/black metal force Belphegor is working on new material. In fact, as of now you can check out an exclusive clip of the Austrian outfit playing the new track "Totenkult - Exegesis Of Deterioration", recorded live right in their "rehearsal bunker", tracked and edited by Jakob Klingsbigl, and filmed by blood brother Barth Resch. This song will be included on the upcoming album, scheduled for a late 2016 release date which follows Conjuring The Dead.

The Austrian extreme metallers Belphegor were supposed to start their headlining North American tour later this month but they have been forced to cancel it due to a critical and immediate family emergency. The North American Voices From The Dark Tour would feature Belphegor, Rotting Christ (Greece), Beheaded (Malta), and Svart Crown (France).

Death/black metal duo Belphegor has posted online footage of their last rehearsals, a few days before Serpenth and Marthyn flew to Mana Studios, St. Petersburg, Florida to track the bass guitars and blazing drums for the new opus Conjuring The Dead with producer Erik Rutan. Today is the day you get to see the album cover that will grace Conjuring The Dead, which is the impending new album from Austrian extreme metal duo Belphegor. The cover design was created by the well-known Greek artist Seth Siro Anton (Septicflesh), who also painted the cover of Pestapokalypse IV in 2006.
The wait for the follow-up to Belphegor's latest album Blood Magick Necromance is almost over. After some delays and a break as frontman Helmuth recovered from a severe illness, the Austrian black/death metal duo will be back and finally unveiled the title and release date of their new creation. The name of the album will be Conjuring The Dead and their tenth album is set to be released on August 8th (Europe) and August 11th (UK/France) 2014 via Nuclear Blast.

The release of Belphegor's new album and successor to Blood Magick Necromance might take more than originally planned. It was meant to be released this year and the band even pulled out of Barge To Hell to meet a March deadline but the yet untitled album is now scheduled for a worldwide release in early 2014 via Nuclear Blast Records.
Belphegor are currently at Mana Studios in Tampa, Florida with producer Erik Rutan (Goatwhore, Hate Eternal, Cannibal Corpse) completing recordings of the new yet-untitled album scheduled for a world-wide release in March next year via Nuclear Blast Records. Vocalist and guitarist Helmuth, is busy finishing all vocals, overdubs and lead guitar parts.
