The release of Belphegor's new album and successor to Blood Magick Necromance might take more than originally planned. It was meant to be released this year and the band even pulled out of Barge To Hell to meet a March deadline but the yet untitled album is now scheduled for a worldwide release in early 2014 via Nuclear Blast Records.
Belphegor are currently at Mana Studios in Tampa, Florida with producer Erik Rutan (Goatwhore, Hate Eternal, Cannibal Corpse) completing recordings of the new yet-untitled album scheduled for a world-wide release in March next year via Nuclear Blast Records. Vocalist and guitarist Helmuth, is busy finishing all vocals, overdubs and lead guitar parts.
Austrian extreme metallers Belphegor have released the following update about the work on their new album: "On tuesday Serpenth (bass) and Marthyn (drums) will fly over to US shores to start the drum recordings on Wednesday. Erik Rutan (Mana studios/ Florida, St. Petersburg) will be at the helm as producer. The recording sessions and mix/ mastering process are set for completion by mid October."
Guitarist/vocalist Helmuth Lehner of extreme metallers Belphegor has revealed that the group is working on material.
The new as yet untitled album, tentatively slated for a late 2012 release, will be the follow up to January 2011's Blood Magick Necromance. From this coming Saturday until next Wednesday, Belphegor will start the first rehearsal session for album X, in Abtenau, Austria. The drum duties will again be handled by Marthyn, who did an outstanding job on Blood Magick Necromance.
Helmuth commented: "Amazing to have the opportunity to be creative again and compose a new album. I begun the compositions in November 2011, after I had to spend five weeks in the hospital and 6 weeks in rehabilitation center, because of my health issues. I survived this hard trial, which still seems unreal. I am not fully recovered, but feel way better now, I can say. Unfortunately we had to cancel all tours until June 2012, when we will get back on the road, and will start with some European open air rituals."
We have been informed that Belphegor have been forced to stop all activities until May 2012. Frontman/guitarist/founding member, Helmuth Lehner went through a serious and difficult operation 16 days ago after the South American tour, and as result of this Belphegor have indeed had to cancel all shows until May next year.

UPDATE BudDa]
"Blood Magick Necromance", a brand new song from Austrian metallers Belphegor, is available for streaming at this location.
"Blood Magick Necromance" is the title track off the band's forthcoming album, Blood Magick Necromance, which was released on January 14th, 2011 in Europe (February 8th, 2011 in North America) via Nuclear Blast Records.
"Impaled Upon The Tongue Of Sathan", the new video from the Austrian metallers Belphegor, can be viewed at this location.
The clip was shot and edited this past October by director Alexander Koenig in Abtenau, Austria. Keeping with the concept of the forthcoming Blood Magick Necromance, album the crew went through over 60 liters of fresh blood within two nights of shooting. Smashing all oppressive morals with anti-Christian sentiment, the band presents a raw look at depraved blood rites which celebrate the liberation of man through death.
Bass devastator Serpenth stated: "The clip aims to strip down the viewer's psyche with an onslaught of sadistic sex, musick and magick. The ritual action caught on tape was also inspired in part by the world famous works of Viennese Actionists such as Hermann Nitsch and Gunter Brus. Rachael Kozak took over the role of the possessed Sukkubus. As Pro-Domina she was perfect and totally into the role. The blood cut deeper than any drug. The process of such an intense shoot served as a cathartic experience for all involved, making what went on behind the scenes just as important as the final outcome of the visuals."
Waiting for January 14th and the release of the new Belphegor opus Blood Magick Necromance is too hard? Then this studio trailer will help and give you a first glimpse of what's to come. Check out the trailer below, and leave your thoughts in the comment section.

"Yeah it's great to return to Norway and play the Inferno Festival again. We start the rehearsals on Monday. Expect an intense blood-convent and blasting hellfire. Time for the next chapter. We just finished the second rehearsing session for the new album. Currently we're working on six brachial sound-collages. We will be recording, mixing, and mastering the as of yet untitled album in Sweden this time around."
UPDATE (thanks to BudDa)
Belphegor will enter The Abyss Studios in Pärbly, Sweden on June 19, to start recording the drums. The band has tapped Peter Tägtgren (Immortal, Celtic Frost, Hypocrisy, Dimmu Borgir...) to produce their new, as of yet untitled album.
Belphegor have uploaded the videoclip for the track "Der Geistertreiber" right here.
The video was shot in Abtenau, Austria with director Walter Fanninger.
Vocalist/guitarist Helmuth stated: "The song is about the celebration on the 30th of April, better known as the Walpurgis Nacht, the occult celebrations on the mountain. It's the first time that we hired a professional camera team for a Belphegor video, so the result is beyond amazing. We rented a cottage three days high in the mountains in middle of nowhere in the woods. There was nothing around. Just a lot of excess, alcohol, substances etc. Was a great intense time!"
The song was taken from the band's upcoming album "Walpurgis Rites - Hexenwahn" to be released via Nuclear Blast on October 9th (Europe) and 20th (North America).
Kataklysm are headlining a European Tour in January 2010. Other bands set to appear on the track are Belphegor, Darkest Hour, Suicidal Angels and Resistance . The dates are as follows:

Austrian metallers Belphegor have posted online a new song, "Walpurgis Rites", on their MySpace page.
"Walpurgis Rites" comes off the band's forthcoming album, "Walpurgis Rites - Hexenwahn", which is scheduled for release on October 9 in Europe (October 20 in North America) via Nuclear Blast Records.
01. Walpurgis Rites
02. Veneratio Diaboli - I Am Sin
03. Hail The New Flesh
04. Reichswehr In Blood
05. The Crosses Made Of Bone
06. Der Geistertreiber
07. Destroyer Hekate
08. Enthralled Toxic Sabbath
09. Hexenwahn - Totenkult
Black/ Death Metal titans Belphegor have set "Walpurgis Rites - Hexenwahn" as the title of their 8th full length studio album due out in October 2009. "Walpurgis Rites - Hexenwahn" marks the follow up to the groups extremely successful 2008 release "Bondage Goat Zombie".
Here's what frontman Helmuth has to say: "The title fits perfect to the whole concept, the lyrical themes. Its typical Belphegor, involving symbology and double meanings. I have always been fascinated by the idea and atmosphere surrounding witches, their magic, the insane sabbath/ ceremonies - and all the obscurity that goes with it. With the nine sound collages, the verses, artwork we continue our descent into the depths of musical hell."
