Candlelight Records today proudly announces the worldwide signing of Corrosion Of Conformity. Since early this year, the band - featuring the esteemed Animosity line-up of vocalist/bassist Mike Dean, guitarist Woody Weatherman, and drummer/vocalist Reed Mullin - has been working with long-time producer John Custer. Now nearly complete, their still untitled eighth studio album is planned for release early in the new year. Gathering last summer to jam as a trio for the first time in over a decade, the treasured threesome quickly rekindled the magic that originally united and ultimately bound the musicians on a journey that today continues to impress both fans and critics. It is the efforts of this line-up that Decibel Magazine recently called "a crucial stylistic lynchpin in the bridge between metal and punk. Corrosion of Conformity irrevocably reshaped crossover's sonic possibilities." AllMusic.com notes, "Corrosion Of Conformity weren't following any trends. They just incorporated all the things they liked about thrash, punk and '70s metal originators Black Sabbath into their constantly evolving sound. It secured them artistic and commercial credibility."
As reported back in February, the reunited Animosity line-up of Corrosion Of Conformity has entered the studio with long-time producer John Custer (Blind, Deliverance, Wiseblood, America's Volume Dealer, Arms Of God) to begin recording the band's new album tentatively due for a late 2011 release.
In a recent interview with UGO, bassist/vocalist Mike Dean told the following about the forthcoming album: "The title is yet to be determined. A self-titled release crossed our minds but the album title is a game-time decision. October is a good time but if we miss that, early 2012 would be a fine time for release. "The Moneychangers", "River Of Stone" and "Rat City" are some of the [song]titles."
US metallers Corrosion Of Conformity have issued the following update on their MySpace blog:
"The 3 of us (Mike, Reed and Woodroe) have been writing new music non-stop here lately. We have 12 songs or so ready to record when we head out to the studio in Los Angeles in the middle of March. I'd say the tunes cover a wide spectrum of the C.O.C sound from very Fast to Doom. Our long time producer John Custer (Blind, Deliverance, Wiseblood, America's Volume Dealer, Arms Of God) will be working with us again on the new record and Mike Dean has threatened to join in on some of the production work as well. Also a lot of touring in the very near future. In addition to the already announced European dates in April we have scheduled a handful of U.S. dates and another European tour in June and July that will be confirmed shortly. Looking forward to all."
