The Las Vegas Review-Journal stated "Sources who knew Paul said late Friday and also today that he had suffered a major heart attack, but there has been no official confirmation of his cause of death."

Tragic news arrived this morning. Former Pantera and Damageplan founding member and drummer Vinnie Paul has lost his life. Vinnie Paul was currently playing in heavy metallers Hellyeah. Along with his brother, guitarist Dimebag Darrell, the legendary drummer Vincent Paul Abbott formed Pantera in 1981. As of yet, no cause of death has been revealed but his representatives have confirmed his passing.
