Autopsy - Fully Reactivated, Abscess Disbanded

After 16 years of delivering punishing, extreme heavy metal, California's Abscess has decided to call it quits. The band's sixth and final studio album, Dawn of Inhumanity, was released in March on Peaceville Records.

Abscess drummer/vocalist, Chris Reifert (ex-Death, Autopsy), issued the following statement: "We need to inform you that Abscess has officially broken up. The reason for this is that Clint Bower (session Autopsy bassist) has left the band for personal reasons, and out of respect to him and to all who have supported us for these 16 years, we have decided to call it a day. Without Clint Bower, there can be no Abscess, so we won't even try to cheat anyone with something that is not the real thing. Dawn of Inhumanity has become our final statement, and we feel that it is the perfect way to close the Abscess chapter, since we must do so. Thanks to all of you who were and still are proud to call yourselves Abscess Freaks!"

While Abscess has been officially laid to rest, the legendary Autopsy has been resurrected as a full time focus. Autopsy recently played at the eighth annual Maryland Deathfest, and has headlining performances scheduled for the Party.San Open Air and the Hole in the Sky festivals this summer.

Autopsy comments: "As many of you know, for years it has been repeatedly stated that Autopsy was over with and done for good. While that was indeed true for a long span of time, it is no longer the case. Autopsy has come to the solid realization that the time is now right to resume their mission of gore soaked death metal brutality and to fulfill this mission with maximum intensity. Make no mistake about it, Autopsy is not about reliving the past, basking in nostalgia or riding on efforts from years long gone. The band is hungry to devour fresh minds and souls and has been amassing an arsenal of new and deathly material to unleash upon those who also hunger for such brutality. The surgical instruments are being sharpened and a pure death metal assault of the most horrific order is underway as you read these very words. On behalf of the band, thanks goes out to all who relented and simply would not allow this beast to remain in the grave. Your persistence will be met with unspeakable and unapologetic sonic atrocities. Let the blood flow...."

Autopsy will release a new EP, entitled The Tomb Within, this August on Peaceville Records. Artwork will come courtesy of renowned horror/fantasy artist, Matt Cavotta. Autopsy's fifth full-length record, Macabre Eternal, is due out early next year.

Annotations Of An Autopsy - Drummer Leaves

Lyn Jeffs, drummer of UK based Annotations Of An Autopsy, issued the following statement:

"I´ve decided to leave Annotations Of An Autopsy to concentrate on my other band Ingested, I feel that they deserve a drummer who is 100% commited to what the band is doing. I've had a great time on tour with AOAA and a great time meeting all the fans who have supported me and the band over the past year. I wish the band luck in the future and hope to share a stage again one day. For now, I will be playing the remaining tours we have booked till the end of the year, so I'm looking forward to meeting all you fuckers on the road again!"

Annotations Of An Autopsy - Working On New Material

Annotations Of An Autopsy have issued the following update:

"So we've been away for a while, not touring or doing anything public, we havent been slacking, we've been locked away working on the new album which is now complete. In July we will be stepping into Foel studio (Napalm Death, Electric Wizard) to record our 2nd album entitled, "II: The Reign Of Darkness". Artwork and tracklisting will be released soon.

We are very excited to get this album out to you. we feel we've created something very special and unique and one of the best death metal cd's to come out in a long time, call it arrogance, call it confidence call it what you want but when you hear it, you'll see our statements are backboned, the aim of the last album was to be as heavy as possible, this is ten steps up and a reality check for the death metal scene.
Its not just about being heavy, its about writting the best songs possible, which we feel we have, this is going to turn alot of heads.

The album is dark, atmospheric and savage the concept is based around corruption, religion, sloth, devolution, emptiness and the future or lack of.

As you can see on our page we have a new logo too, the point of this is to get our name even further out there with a readable logo, the old logo isn't being thrown away we are stll using it on some merch items as we know you like it so dont moan.

We'll also be recording our first ever music video! At the moment the track we are thinking of doing it for is "Impale The Sun" which some of you may have heard us play at Hammerfest.

What does it sound like? Annotations Of An Autopsy! We've been away, but now were back to reclaim our crown as the leaders of UK death metal."

Autopsy - Releasing New, Albeit Very Limited, Material

Peaceville Records announced today that, for the first time in nearly 15 years, two vile new Autopsy tracks were recorded in September 2008, bringing together Chris Reifert, Danny Coralles and Eric Cutler for another slice of death & decay.

These tracks make up a special, extremely limited (only 1,000) 7" vinyl release, titled "Horrific Obsession". This 7" will be available exclusively from the Peaceville website on 26th January 2009, with pre-orders being taken now in the Peaceville webstore.

In addition to this, a special 2 disc edition of Autopsy's iconic debut album "Severed Survival" will be released in February to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the original release.

Everyone's favourite San Franciscan sickos - an inspiration to an entire generation of death metal bands - have unearthed rare rehearsal & live material for a bonus disc, including demo versions of two songs, "Mauled To Death" and "Human Genocide", which were intended for the original "Severed Survival". Also featured in the package is a booklet with notes by the band themselves, detailing the history of Autopsy's early years, with rare photos and images.

"Horrific Obsession" cover art] includes the following two tracks:

A. Horiffic Obsession
B. Feast Of The Graveworm
