Arch Enemy, Lacuna Coil - Vocalists Present Award To Slayer

Arch Enemy vocalist, Angela Gossow has posted the following message on her MySpace Page:

"Dear friends,

I was invited to the Kerrang Awards on Thursday. Its all industry and business, not much of a metal party with bands like Placebo and Muse. I had to do a couple of Jaegermeister shots with Kerry King to get over this blasphemy. But oh well. Me and Christina were there to give the 'Hall Of Fame' award to Slayer - the only band who truly deserved their award! REIGN IN BLOOD (and chop those suit-and-tie-wearing corporates into pieces please).

Check out from the Kerrang! Awards:

Flying these days is a huge hassle. You are not even allowed to bring some toothpaste in your handluggage. I made it through the metal detector bare foot (even flip flops have to be taken off) and were asked to throw my chapstick away.. I looked at the security guy and said.. "Listen, I am German, non-religious, love my live and will NOT attempt to blow up the plane with a lipstick".. Needless to say he did not get the joke. I felt a personal triumph though that he didnt discover my saline nasal spray. Ha! Rebellion.

We are in full-preparation mode for Gigantour. We havent been touring for a while (did the EU festivals instead) and I struggle to remember the essentials I have to bring for living on a tourbus.. SANITIZER! I-POD! KEYBOARD! LAPTOP! And a million other things. We will be going straight to Japan and Australia after this, so we will be 6 weeks non-stop away from home. I am looking forward to it a lot, it means I will have people around me who are doing the thinking and organizing for me (hello Woody, Mr. tourmanager, I am talking to you, hehe..) and I will meet a lot of cool people who actually like what we do musically. Its a reward money can't buy!

Please stay healthy and pure fucking metal until we come to town! I want to see you crazy lot in the front row!."

Lacuna Coil - Release Date Set

LACUNA COIL are set to release their latest full-length effort, Karmacode, on April 4th via Century Media Records. The highly anticipated follow-up to their acclaimed commercial breakthrough album, Comalies, was co-produced by Waldemar Sorychta and LACUNA COIL in Germany and Italy while the album was both mixed by Ronald Prent (Rammstein, H.I.M., Iron Maiden) and mastered by Darcy Proper (Steely Dan, Porcupine Tree, R.E.M.) at Galaxy Studios in Belgium. Asterik Studio (Trapt, Funeral For A Friend, The Used), the Grammy-nominated design firm, is handling the package design for Karmacode.

Says vocalist Cristina Scabbia, "I imagine it's easy for everyone to understand how truly excited we are for the world to hear the new material. It'll give everyone the chance to hear the growth that the band has experienced over the past couple of years. I simply cannot wait to get out and play the new songs live, there will definitely be a lot of energy coming from the stage next year!"

Guitarist Cristiano Migliore adds, "It's taken a long time to put together these songs and I can say they're the best ones we've ever written! Working with old friends as well as new ones has been incredibly exciting and we had the chance to mix in one of the best studios in the world so, really, what else could we ask for? I'm definitely sure our fans will love the music just as much as they'll love the artwork that Asterik has created for Karmacode!"

The track list for Karmacode is as follows:

1.Fragile
2.To The Edge
3.Our Truth
4.Within Me
5.Devoted
6.You Create
7.What I See
8.Fragments Of Faith
9.Closer
10.In Visible Light
11.The Game
12.Without Fear
13.Enjoy The Silence

"Our Truth", the album's lead track, will receive its worldwide debut on the Underworld: Evolution soundtrack on January 10th alongside Puscifer (Maynard Kennan's new project), Chester Bennington (Linkin Park), Slipknot, My Chemical Romance, Atreyu, and more. "We all loved the 1st Underworld movie and soundtrack and knowing we'll be part of this soundtrack alongside all these great bands is awesome!" says Cristiano. "It's incredible to see all this interest in our band and every time something like this happens it's definitely surreal. It's also going to be a great chance to see what people think of the new stuff! Let's keep our fingers crossed!"

A video for "Our Truth" was shot in Los Angeles by Fort Awesome, a brand-new directorial duo, whose individual directing credits include Queens of the Stone Age, Linkin Park, Disturbed, Chevelle, Atreyu, Shadows Fall, and more. "The experience of shooting the video was a wonderful one, for sure" adds Cristina, "Both the band and the crew worked from sunset to sunrise in the Hollywood Hills, remaining 100% focused and after all was said and done we believe we pulled off a masterpiece of a video we're sure everyone's going to love."

Lacuna Coil - New Songtitles Revealed

According to a posting at EmptySpiral.net, LACUNA COIL presented six songs from their forthcoming album, "Karmacode", to members of the world music press on Sunday (Oct. 23) at the Galaxy Studios in Mol, Belgium. The band are currently working in the studio with Grammy award-winning mastering engineer Darcy Proper, whose previous works include PORCUPINE TREE's "Deadwing".

The highly anticipated follow-up to 2002's "Comalies", "Karmacode" was co-produced once again by Waldemar Sorychta was mixed by Ronald Prent (RAMMSTEIN, H.I.M., IRON MAIDEN). Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "What I See", "Fragile", "In Visible Light", "Fragments of Faith", "Within Me" and "Our Truth".

With regards to the new album's title, male vocalist Andrea Ferro had previously said, "When it came to coming up with an album title I wanted to combine one 'old' word that is spiritually connected with another that offers a link to our more 'modern' times. If there were an actual translation of 'karmacode,' it would be something like 'spiritual DNA and the message behind it'. The title attempts to balance our modern, overwhelming, self-centered, fast-paced lifestyles and the desire we all have to live a more spiritual, more compassionate and more fulfilling life."

"Karmacode" is tentatively scheduled for release in March 2006 via Century Media Records.

Lacuna Coil - News & Updates

"Comalies", LACUNA COIL's critically acclaimed album, has just surpassed the 200.000 U.S. SoundScan plateau. This marks the first time a Century Media artist has reached this illustrious benchmark. The accomplishment comes on the heels of the radio success of the powerful singles "Heaven's A Lie" and "Swamped" with the video-clips also exploding at numerous music TV stations worldwide. The group spent the past two years touring the US relentlessly with the likes of Anthrax, Opeth, P.O.D. and Type O Negative only to emerge as Ozzfest 2004's breakout artist after consistently outselling all other second stage acts each week while Europe was successfully toured with Sentenced and Moonspell. Led by the undeniably captivating Cristina Scabbia (vocals), the group garnered mainstream acclaim from such publications as Entertainment Weekly, Rolling Stone and Stuff, among others.

LACUNA COIL are currently in the pre-production phase for the highly anticipated follow-up to "Comalies" with longtime producer Waldemar Sorychta (Sentenced, Moonspell).

Cristina checks in with the following report on the band's songwriting progress:

"We are working on the new stuff and I can tell you it is definitely killer! We are really proud of the new songs and we are still composing new material. We plan on presenting some of the new tracks this summer at festivals around Europe; check out the dates at http://www.lacunacoil.it and http://www.emptyspiral.net Thanks for the great support you've given us since we started. We love you and we are ready to come back to kick some serious ass!"

"One of the larger success stories in metal." - Billboard

"Artist To Watch In 2005." - Rolling Stone USA

"LACUNA COIL are on the verge of a major breakthrough." - Yahoo

Lacuna Coil: To begin recording new album

According to a posting on the group's official web site, Italy's LACUNA COIL recently spent time in Milan in pre-production with producer Waldemar Sorychta (TIAMAT, GRIP INC., SAMAEL). Lacuna Coil: 15 new songs done!

LACUNA COIL guitarist Cristiano Migliore has revealed to Wichita's F5 that the Italian quintet have written roughly 15 tracks since the release of 2002's "Comalies" and will work on recording a new disc toward the end of this year with a projected release date of early 2005.

With regards to the band's upcoming appearance at this year's Ozzfest, Migliore said, "I grew up listening to OZZY, SLAYER â?" all those bands. So it's interesting that we should be on tour with them. I think this is the best lineup for an Ozzfest yet.

"We're really not going to make money from that tour," the 32-year-old guitarist said. "It's more about promotion. Which is good. Sometimes you only get a few people but the next time, you come back and there are more than you thought there would be."

According to Migliore, LACUNA COIL had no idea that its latest offering, "Comalies", would have the kind of legs that it has had since seeing the light of day in the dimming hours of 2002.

"We knew the record was good," he said. "But we had no idea that it would keep selling the way that it has."
