Rage - Release Date For New Album

The release date of the new Rage album "Carved In Stone" has been set. Nuclear Blast will release the CD on 22nd of February 2008.

Rage guitarist Victor Smolski previously stated about the upcoming CD: "From the beginning we decided to compose the songs for this CD more straight, concentrating on cool riffs and catchy melodies. Actually, with our new lineup it was easy to realize everything, as we pulled together with André Hilgers on drums perfectly! All the recordings with our co-producer, sound engineer and almost fourth band member Charly Czajkowski runs perfectly, as well as the final mix with Charlie Bauerfeind. From my point of view I promise you brutal guitar riffs with fancy soli. In one song, I've hidden a modification of a real famous melody ? the one who will first recognize this melody will get a present! At 'Open My Grave', my sitar guitar came into operation, at 'Lord of the Flies', I've contributed a phat keyboard arrangement."

Other song titles set to appear on the CD include "Carved in Stone", "Drop Dead", "Gentle Murders", "One Step Ahead" and "Without You"

Rage - Split With Mike Terrana

As posted on the official Website on 06.12.2006:

Since a while there's rumours about Mike leaving Rage, so now Peavy and Victor speak to the public: From now on we won't continue our colaboration with Mike because personal and musical differences that exist since a while, became unbearable. This cut is definitely not easy for us, but to avoid damage for Rage we have no other choice. Unfortunately there's not much left from our former unity, since a while, comunication between Mike and us broke down completely, so we have to pull the emergency brake. We decided to work with a new drummer in the future, because we don't want to ruin it all to a point, where's no future at all. We want to keep our power and joy in music, so there's no other way.

We are aware, how much this Line up meant to you (and us), but that's life. A band, especially a three-piece, is like a relationship. Over the years we just developed apart from each other. We wish Mike all the best for his further carreer.

Nevertheless, there's a bright perspective in front of us: We definitely won't cancel a single show and work intensely at the moment, to present you a suitable new drummer soon. We have lots of plans for the next year, among others we'll play some exclusive orchestra shows for you.

We hope you all keep the faith in the future and promise, to keep up with our quality level to 100%.

See ya soon!

Rage on!

Yours Peavy & Victor

Rage - New DVD On The Way

A new live DVD by Heavy Metallers Rage will be released next year. It will be a double DVD set, one with live footage and the other with bonus material. The DVD will be entitled 'Full Moon In St. Petersburg' as the concert to be featured on the DVD was the band playing in St. Petersburg, Russia, in front of almost 20,000 viewers in May 2006. The last two video clips on the DVD will be a TV recording in Brazil and parts of the show Rage recorded on "Masters of Rock" festival 2006 in Tschechien.

The second DVD of bonus material contains a documentary of the different days on the Russian tour. Also, there will be more live clips and another documentary, this time detailing Rage's last European tour, with 'on the road' and backstage material. Every band member has some documentaries of their own as well. Victor's racing sport and his solo presentations, Peavy about his ice age bone collection and his newest avocation, the casting of skulls, and Mike has administered a short drum workshop and his latest drum solo.

The first edition will be available in a special steelbook with 2 DVD's + the audio CD of the concert, but also available as a DVD or audio CD seperately.

The cover for the DVD can be seen here. The artwork is again designed by Anthony Clarkson, who was already responsible for the 'Speak Of The Dead' cover.

Rage - Nuclear Blast 20 Years Compilation

Posted on Rage's official website on October 29th:

At the moment, Victor is working on another big project, a compilation CD for the 20th anniversary of Nuclear Blast.
It will be an album, for which Victor will completely compose, record and produce about 10 songs for various metal bands of Nuclear Blast history, inclusive a new Rage song, furthermore Peavy helped with the lyrics! The organisation is big stress, as it's not so easy, to get musicians from all over the world with different tour and studio schedules reconciled.
A detailed studio report of this production will follow.

Cannibal Corpse - Australian Tour Sparks Outrage

The West Australian newspaper reported in its July 8 edition that Cannibal Corpse's October concert in Perth, Australia has sparked calls for the band to be banned over its alleged glorification of "child rape, suicide, murder and necrophilia" in its lyrics. Community groups have joined shadow police minister Rob Johnson in calling for Cannibal Corpse to be stopped from appearing at Club Capitol on October 10.

Cannibal Corpse, who played in Perth in 1995, has songs such as "Dismembered and Molested", and "Necropedophile", which details "the pleasure gained from killing, then raping, children." In the past 16 years, the group has released 14 albums, many of which are available at music stores throughout Perth.

Mr. Johnson said he was disgusted by the band's highly explicit songs. "They should be banned from appearing here," he said. "There is enough violence and youth suicide in West Australia already without any encouragement from awful groups like this. I feel sick at the thought of those lyrics being sung to the youth of WA." Australian Family Association vice-president Gillian Gonzalez said Cannibal Corpse have the most offensive lyrics she had ever seen. "They are absolutely vile and should not be allowed into the country" she said.

Attorney-Gerneral Jim McGinty did not comment on whether the group should be banned from playing and said outfits like Cannibal Corpse thrived off negative publicity.

Cannibal Corpse tour of Australia/New Zealand:

Oct. 03 - The Hifi Bar - Melbourne, AUS
Oct. 04 - The Gaelic Club - Sydney, AUS
Oct. 05 - The Arena - Brisbane, AUS
Oct. 06 - 420 - Auckland, NZ
Oct. 07 - Indigo Bar - Wellington, NZ
Oct. 09 - Fowlers Live - Adelaide, AUS
Oct. 10 - Club Capitol - Perth, AUS

The company planning the tour have made it official that Tasmanian Death Metal band Psycroptic and Western Australian Metallers Plague will be supporting Cannibal Corpse when they come to Australia. Ulcerate will be with them for the two New Zealand shows. Psycroptic have supported such acts as Cryptopsy in the past.

Nightrage - Guitarist Gus G. Leaves The Band

Guitarist Gus G. decided to leave the band, the following statement from him is posted on Nightrage webiste:

"Hello friends!

Hope this message finds you all well. After long discussions with Marios we both decided that it"s best for me to stop playing with Nightrage.

The reason behind this decision is that I simply don"t have enough time these days to write, rehearse and tour with the band, whenever they decide to do so.

I"ve felt bad that I couldn"t tour 100% with Nightrage and only played selected shows. Nightrage IS an active band and needs its members to be there 100%.

The new line-up is killer and everyone gets along. I don"t wanna be the weak link. On the other hand, I need to give my own band (Firewind) full attention as well.

So from now on, we go separate ways. However, we decided to do one last show together @ Inferno festival in Oslo, Norway on April 13th. So, I"d be very happy

to see as many of you as possible that day, as I"ll descent into chaos one last time with my Nightrage brothers!

Marios, Henric, Fotis and Jimmie: I had a blast playing and making music with you, love ya!

Special thanx to all the crazy metalheads that supported and keep supporting NR!

Stay Metal,

Gus G."

The band is looking for replacements, people interested in the position should send an email to marili@nightrage.com .
