Atrocity - New Album Featuring Frontman Alex Krull's Sister In The Works

Official press release

On November 13th the Beauty & The Beast tour starts! Atrocity will play special Werk 80 shows on that great festival tour!

While the band is preparing for the European run there is some great news to be announced: Atrocity are recording a new record. It will be a project album featuring frontman Alex Krull's sister Yasmin, and it will be out next year.

The collaboration with Yasmin started previously on Atrocity's legendary Blut album (1994) where Alex's sister was doing guest vocals. In 1995 the mystical and very special Atrocity featuring Yasmin Calling The Rain mini album was released, and became a success. Calling The Rain contained mainly acoustic songs which was a completly new aspect of making music for a death metal band in that time. As no other band was playing that kind of music, it was simply called Ethno Metal.

"A funny name for creating a kind of metal nobody had a name for. As we are a metal act and playing with Yasmin songs influenced by Ethno and World music, it's ok to me, although I don't like categories," states Alex Krull.

The last Atrocity featuring Yasmin song recorded was "Desert Land" for the first Orkus Compilation in 1999. Since then fans kept on waiting for new material and asking for a new official release of Atrocity featuring Yasmin. Last year Calling The Rain was re-released on Napalm Records.

After the Top 20 album Werk 80 II was released, Atrocity announced that the new record will be totally different again and another special project album with Yasmin. Through the years Atrocity wrote new songs for the new album with Yasmin. The production is in full swing and drummer Seven Antonopoulos has completed his drum tracks. On this album Seven utilzed a great amount of different percussion instruments.

Seven Antonopoulos: ''I really had fun tracking this record. Nowadays records are so over produced and slick sounding. It was nice to get in the studio and use organic drum sounds as well as a ton of percussion instruments. For the drums I played a 5 piece PDP kit and we used a few different DW wood snares. The 8' edge Collectors series was the main one though. A couple years ago I started experimenting with different kinds of percussion. On this record I used a cajon on almost all the tunes. As well as congas, bongos, timbales and all kinds of Rhythm Tech shakers and tambourines. Again, it was so refreshing to utilize natural instruments in a recording situation. I think the fans will be taking by the whole vibe and mood of the tracks. This was my first time to work with Yasmin. She has a great voice and it was a real treat to see how she interpreted the songs. At this point I've been playing with Leaves' Eyes / Atrocity for a year. So, the studio process is pretty much second nature. All in all I'm proud of the work on the record, and I can't wait to hear the final mixes.''

Twisted Sister - New Video Online

A new Twisted Sister video for the song "30", Twisted's first new song in 11 years recorded by the band for the 25th Anniversary Edition, is available online. Click here to check it out.

"30" was originally written by Dee Snider with Marc Beeman and Sharon Lawson for the reality series Gone Country. Dee says, "While '30' was my attempt at a country song for the show, the realization was that rock 'n' roll is a direct outgrowth of country music. Since '30' was written about my Twisted Sister experience, it seemed only natural for us to record it and rock it out."

Twisted Sister - 25th Anniversary Edition Release Details

Rhino Records press release

After rocking clubs from Los Angeles to New York City for more than a decade, Twisted Sister made its bones in 1984 with the quintet's second Atlantic Records release, a Top 20 album that stormed the charts with a string of hit singles and genre-bending videos. Rhino proudly wears a Twisted Sister pin on its uniform, celebrating the album's multi-platinum success with a 25th Anniversary Edition that includes a bonus disc of unreleased outtakes and early demos from the original sessions, as well as a new track recorded especially for this collection by the 1984 lineup: Dee Snider, Jay Jay French, Eddie Ojeda, Mark Mendoza, and A.J. Pero. "Stay Hungry" 25th Anniversary Edition will be available June 30 from Rhino Records.

The first disc contains remastered versions of the nine tracks from the May 1984 original. The album was a smash thanks to a pair of fist-pumping anthems of youthful rebellion "I Wanna Rock" and "We're Not Gonna Take It" that went Top 40. The band balanced those catchy songs with the harder edge of metal classics like "Burn In Hell" and "Horror-Teria," a macabre song that would later serve as the inspiration for Strangeland, a 1998 horror film written by Snider, who also starred as the sadistic Captain Howdy.

The bonus disc uncovers 15 unreleased recordings that range from alternate versions of album tracks--including "We're Not Gonna Take It"--to several non-album tracks such as "Death From Above," "Prime Motivator," and "Pay The Price," a song from the band's earlier club days. Along with the vintage tracks, the collection includes "30," Twisted's first new song in 11 years recorded by the band for the 25th Anniversary Edition.

More than a decade after Twisted Sister's last show, the band reformed in 2001 for a benefit and continued playing together, including an astonishing run of over 50 headline festival dates performing in front of two million people in over 23 countries. In 2006, the band returned to the charts with Twisted Christmas, a holiday album that buzzsaws through yuletide classics such as, "Oh Come All Ye Faithful" and "Silver Bells." That same year, the Long Island Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted Twisted Sister. The band is currently at work on a new album and a Broadway musical based on Twisted Christmas. Twisted Sister will headline the annual Rocklahoma music festival July 9-12 in Pryor, Oklahoma. Rock of Ages, Broadway's latest musical hit with five Tony® nominations, features Twisted Sister prominently in its story line and with the band's aforementioned iconic anthems, "I Wanna Rock" and "We're Not Gonna Take It."
