Mayhem - New Album Completed

Norwegian black metallers Mayhem have finished recording their new album, "Ordo Ad Chao".

Guitarist Blasphemer (aka Rune Erickson) comments: "The sound is raw and powerful, and listening to it, it reminds me of the Wolf's Lair Abyss era, only more varied and more philosophical. The album also contains the most aggressive songs in the Mayhem history as well as the most wicked and darkest."

"Ordo Ad Chao" is tentatively scheduled for release in April, 2007 via Season Of Mist. The album will initially be avaialble in very exclusive packaging.

Mayhem - Banned From Playing Poland; Vocalist Issues Statement

Mayhem vocalist Attila Csihar has issued the following statement regarding the recent attempt by the "Polish government" to ban the band from playing their country:

"A fascist-religious government in Europe hides behind its democratic façade!

"Some time ago, Mayhem was set to play in Poland. And we were very excited to deliver a great show to our Polish fans! The Polish government didn't warn us of any requirements, rules or guidelines in advance. So, thinking that all the details were taken care of, we set out with all our equipment and our entire stage set. One day before the show however we were informed that the Polish government had banned us from playing the country! And without any official statement or explanation!

"When we looked into the situation, we saw that many Polish newspapers claimed that this action was merely based in politics as it was close to the next Polish elections. It seems that politics and religion are very strongly interlocked in the country. Could this be a new form of religious dictatorship and inquisition?

"Needless to say, this caused a huge existential and financial loss for the band and our promoters. Not to mention a huge theft to the hundreds of fans who had bought tickets in advance.

"How much longer do we have to suffer from these false, distorted, sick, politically religious regimes and dictatorships? How can a simple metal band be deemed a serious danger for the government and its citizens? It shows the weakness in Poland 'democracy.'

"I grew up in an ex-communist country just like Poland. And I remember how the official history had 'changed' from one day to the next. I remember the chaos and confusion this caused in the school system and realized this during my final high school exams in 1988.

"This world is totally fucked up and hypnotised! And we are all suffering from a lifetime of lies! I know that my Polish friends can understand and relate to what I am saying. I recently heard from the Hungarian metal band Sear Bliss that their show in Poland was raided by armed police-commandos in ski-masks only moments before show time!

"Someone must take a stand. Our only weapons are musical instruments yet they reply to us with machine guns! I am not afraid of priests and politics! How far will this go? Where has the freedom of speech, art and religion gone? Maybe it is in the ass of their pope? I would like to tell the Minister of Poland and his government to kiss all of our asses and fuck off!"

Mayhem - Attila Returns

"It is hereby official :

Maniac is out of legendary black metal band MAYHEM and back in comes Attila Csihar. He will - with immediate effect - take over Maniac's role as front figure. Although many rumours flourished over the past months, nothing was decided until now. The reason for this change in line-up lies in more private matters, but has also to do with Maniac's inability to tour.

"Maniac was, and will always be a part of our legacy, and it has been an honour to work with him for the last 10 years. Respect!""

Mayhem - Documentary To Be Released

Taken from Blabbermouth.net:

A sequel to the acclaimed Norwegian/Swedish documentary "Cult of Aggression", focusing on the Norwegian black metal pioneers Mayhem, is currently in the works.
"The first documentary about Mayhem, 'Cult of Aggression', was about their history ? mainly about their music, but, of course, if a band has such a bloody history as MAYHEM, you can't that out of the documentary," the film's director, Stefan Rydehed of Strym Productions.
"'Cult of Aggression' was mainly with Manheim and Necro Butcher but had a few parts about Dead when I used a voice-over and some folks who lived in Kråkstad when the band had their rehersal/livingplace there," Rydehed continued.
"The new version of , which will be totally new except Manheim's part, will still focus about the music, events, albums, members and sessionmembers and people who have been involved in the scene. So it will be a pretty huge documentary. Still underground!"
The original "Cult of Aggression" film received its world premiere earlier this year at the Oslo Filmfestival, where it was shown twice. Copies of the film can be ordered from Metallian Videos (available only on VHS) at this location: http://www.geocities.com/metallianvidz/.
More information about "Cult of Aggression" and its sequel can be obtained by writing to Stefan Rydehed at rydehed@hotmail.com.

Mayhem among 'craziest rockers of all time'

MARILYN MANSON and Norwegian black metallers MAYHEM were included in a list of the "100 most insane moments in rock" released last week by British music magazine Q.

Topping the list was the late WHO drummer Keith Moon, who was singled out for a life of excess that included countless drug-fueled brawls, a food fight with police in Flint, Michigan and an impromptu fireworks display on a U.S. television show.

The list, chosen by magazine staff, is an enlightening record of rock 'n' roll's wacky and weird moments, ranging from the bat-biting of Ozzy Osbourne to Michael Jackson conducting a voodoo ritual to fatally curse his enemies, via Elvis Presley's predilection for mounds of jam and peanut butter sandwiches, and Freddie Mercury's offstage sexual thrills.

The Top 10:

01. Keith Moon
02. Prince ? proselytizes door-to-door for Jehovah's Witnesses
03. Marilyn Manson ? covers fan in meat
04. Michael Jackson ? puts curse on Steven Spielberg
05. Elvis Presley ? flies 879 miles (1415 kilometers) for peanut butter and bacon sandwiches
06. MAYHEM ? Norwegian band's bassist kills guitarist
07. Courtney Love ? lies down semi-naked in London street
08. Marion "Suge" Knight ? career of oft-jailed rap impresario
09. Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown ? troubled marriage
10. Freddie Mercury ? QUEEN frontman's backstage antics
