Insomnium deserve it. Thumbs up for censoring Alexi Laiho's award. EDIT: Now it's up, lol could've lived without it too. |

God why does laiho keep on winning these awards ?
sure i love his earlier work, but bodom these days seems to reflect that he thinks he can ride on his previous work for the rest of his career ? |

It's coz it was an open voting. So any teenage bodom fanboy could have voted.
Anyways congragulations to Insomnium they really deserve it! |
| Won't say Insomnium deserves it... but I can't think of a finnish release in 2009 that tops them on top of my head other than Amorphis. Seeing that Tomi won the vocalist award, I won't complain... |
| Ya Amorphis! m/ Tomi is amazing. |
| Hooray for Insomnium. They deserve it! |
| Damn Laiho, I never knew you could be praised for releasing a shitty cover album |
| Seems even Finland lost its taste... |
| Yeah! Insomnium and Amorphis rule. |
| To be quite honest the Finnish Albums listed arent that great, the 2009 releases werent very good. Insomnium and Amorphis were OK but at best. And yeah, why the hell does Laiho win? Sure is riding on his fame... |
| Amoral didn't win? ...I'm shocked. |
| The Laiho win is quite perplexing, I thought CoB was out of style by this point? |

Who cares if Laiho won? Of course you'll have a case where 50% likes the fact that he won and 50% doesn't - no surprise there. It's purely subjective... and the voting was open to anyone, regardless of informed opinions or matured taste.
I do however think some other Finnish musician, who actually released a studio album this year (2009), deserves the nomination more - but that's based on the time frame here and not Children Of Bodom's change of style and the fact that people are obsessed with Laiho.
He was and still is a very talented musician - and sure the new Children Of Bodom albums do not appeal to me anymore... they are however still skilled musicians, playing a different style then before.
It's just a shame that a lot of us, 'music lovers', sometimes feel 'threaten' by the commercial stream - there will always be people (and in most cases they're the majority) that vote or listen to music, because of peer pressure or manipulation/ brainwashing. Especially when you're young... a few years back a lot of us would've voted for Children Of Bodom's, Follow the Reaper/ Hatebreeder - but back then 'fans' of their Something Wild album would've felt that they've gone commercial and that us voters are only 'fanboys'.
Support the bands by buying their music and attending their shows when you can, I think that serves a greater purpose then all this voting? |

True about Laiho still being a good musician, but the votes shouldnt be based on his potential but on his recent performance. |

Studio Neither you nor me have seen any live bands over here in SA....let alone Chlidren of Bodom, so I cant comment on live. |

Ghost Brigade - Isolation Songs tops the new Insomnium easily. Amazing album, wish it received more recognition.
Laiho winning anything for 2009 is a joke. |
