As previously reported, Finnish folk metallers Korpiklaani are working on yet another new studio album. The band released the following update:
"We have been pretty busy finishing our upcoming album Ukon Wacka. "Ukon Wacka", or Ukon Vakat, is a pagan sacrificial feast from ancient times, on which a special made beer richly flowed. As can be expected from the title, this album has an ancient and very folky feel and is totally in Finnish. To make the lyrics understandable for non-Finnish people, we will add an English description/translation in the booklet as usual.
The album consists of 10 songs, among which you will find a song name "Tequila", which is especially written for (and inspired by) our South American fans, with whom we celebrated such hard times, and who welcomed us so warmly, when we were touring in South America. Another surprise is the title song, "Ukon Wacka", in which a special guest features: the famous Finnish singer Tuomari Nurmio! Last but not least features a tribute song ("Päät Pois Tai Hirteen") to the Finnish rock band Peer Günt, a great and underestimated band. We hope and expect that this album will give you as much joy as we had making it; a big folky feast for all!
You only have to wait a bit, the release date is scheduled for February 4th 2011."

Can't wait to hear what they do with this! I really liked the last album thought it had kind of a heavier somewhat different sound then there usual gallop songs! Either way I'm sure I will like it!
Here's a link to an interview with korpiklaani talking about the new album! I found it on Metal From Finland.com

| Judging by their albums since 'tales along this road' if they follow the same formula again i will have tow rite them off as bieng a boring band, however they say their going for a differnt sound so i'll give it a go and see what happens, maybe we are getting the korpiklaani that made 'spirit of the forest' back! |

| Bound to be just as boring and generic as every other recent Korpiklaani release...Hopefully I can be proven wrong. |

That is what I am thinking. |

| A song entitled "Tequila", sung in Finnish WTF? Can't wait for their next album, which will feature the very original track "Amaretto", a HIM cover and a guest appearance by Lady Gaga. And all that bullshit should be out three weeks after "Ukon Wacka"... |

Ha, that's certainly Korpiklaani. That along with a song named "Tequila". |

| Am I the only one who considers every Korpiklaani's album after "Tales Along This Road" just bland, soulless and tiresome? |
|
|
|
Maybe, but give them chance...maybe they changed with this new one |

"Vodka", "Tequila"...
What will those idiots do when they will have used the name of most alcoholic beverages?
Such a lame band, really. Pointless, purposeless. Only a bunch of drifters with zero originality who bring absolutely nothing good or interesting to the scene.
But, in this quantity-plagued modern metal scene, when it's all about sales over originality and quantity over quality, am I really surprised? Surely not.
God I hate the current metal scene. |

I agree about Korpiklaani, but not exactly about the current metal scene. You just have to be bothered to look deeper. |

I'm just saying what I have to say. I don't care for insults and shit. I don't give a fuck at other people's opinions, anyway.
Metal boards is not a popularity contest. In fact, the more hated I am, the more it amuses me.
I despise the current metal scene and the 'metal community' in general, so I don't mind being hated in return. I like music but all the shit around it, I have no sympathy for. |
