Kampfar - New Album Details, Teaser Online

Original news, posted on 26.01.2011

Mare, the new album by Norwegian pagan black metal band Kampfar, will be released on March 25th in Europe and April 5th in North America through Napalm Records.

The album was produced by Peter Tägtgren at Abyss Studio.

According to the press release, Mare opens a new chapter in the Norwegians' band history, while delivering a true monument to black metal. Frontman Dolk and the rest of the band have achieved the difficult task of giving their sound new impulses without losing their unique style. Isolated keyboard passages and sprechgesang consort with icy riffs, dark melodies, and oppressive drums. Dolk's raw vocals continue to set the pace, while giving songs like "Bergtatt", Volvevers", and the title track such intensity that they are left with no other choice but to crawl under the skin of even the most discerning black and pagan metal fans.

Mare [cover art] tracklist:

01. Mare
02. Ildstemmer
03. Huldreland
04. Bergtatt
05. Trolldomspakt
06. Volvevers
07. Blitzwitch
08. Nattgang
09. Altergang
10. Bergtatt [In D Major]

I can't actually tell what that artwork is meant to be... if it IS actually meant to be anything in particular

Who really gives a rats ass about the artwork. Kampfar will make a great album as they've only been getting better with each release.
