Metal Storm - Heavy T.O. / MTL Contest

From now until the 20th July, we are giving you the opportunity to win festival passes to two great festivals in Canada. Heavy T.O. in Toronto and Heavy MTL in Montreal will be headlined by Slipknot and System Of A Down, and feature a whole host of other great bands from Lamb Of God to Origin.

We have two passes for each festival to give away - so for your chance to win a spot at the one closest to you, head over to the contest page and answer the question correctly.

Good luck!

Close to home, but I wouldn't pay a dime to see any of these bands. Awful Lineup IMO.

It's a two-hour ride from where I live and I wouldn't go for free to be honest. There are about three or four bands I'd really enjoy watching live but overall this line-up just doesn't cater to my tastes.

Meh, it's pretty close to where I live (just a little over an hour by public transit) and some of my good friends are probably going... I'm only planning on going for the 2nd day if I have to pay for it lol

It's a long ass drive for me. Prolly wouldn't bother going there anyway. Though.... I do like Overkill...

Damn I really wish I could finally win one of these contests.

This years lineup is jam packed with drivel and garbage, but GCF. MOTHERFUCKING GCF. My life is complete the day I see that man!!!

And I'll be honest, last years lineup had drivel and garbage as well but was still an event I was glad I went to.

Thing is, with this edition they screwed up big time. Instead of keeping the bands that waould appeal to crowd A on one day and crowd B the other day, they mixed everything up hoping to sell more tickets. But they'll just end up with a shitload of angry customers. Either because they couldnn't afford both days or because they were forced to pay for bands they hate.

The thing with this Festival is that it's not just bands that Evenko (producer) asks to be on the show and then they decide when they put them on the bill and/or weekend.

Most of the big names are there because
a) They were already on a tour and Evenko managed to grab them to come to MTL/Toronto for the festival
b) They were already on a festival (the first 3 editions included the Mayhem Rockstar Fest) and Evenko grabbed them for those dates.

So, most of the times, they don't have a say on the date. The tour/festival manager will say "well, they can be in Toronto date X and MTL Date Y, you take it or leave it".
