Norwegian black metal titans Mayhem have announced the re-release of their 2000 album, Grand Declaration Of War. One of the band's most experimental outputs, it features many unorthodox sounds not found on many other records. Combining black metal, progressive music, hip hop, avant-garde, electronic, it wasn't exactly well-received by many fans. The album has been re-mixed and re-mastered by Jaime Gomez Arellano at Orgone Studios in the UK.
You can listen to a few samples of re-mastered tracks in the video below on Season Of Mist's YouTube:
The re-release will be out December 7th on Season Of Mist, pre-orders available over here.
I have one already, so no thanks
But i like the idea of re-releasing if it is hard to buy it

And I see the blade fall down upon the head of lord in heaven
And Darkness falls upon the end of history
While I drink the milk of the Black Goddess and cry over the mankind
Oh please god no. We only just managed to forget it ever existed.
GDOW is one of their best albums, safe for the debut. None before them in the black metal scene ever attempted such a successful experiment. Sure, the album does not sound that great in studio, but live most of the tracks are killed. Check their live albums when they play songs from this one. They are sublime.
I LOVE GDOW. It's a far more darring experiment that people give it credit for. And I think this remix is a terrible idea. The drums got way too high on the mix and it sounds a bit more muddy. Pretty sure they tried to please the old-school fans who wanted a more organic "more trve" sound but this album is meant to sound clinical and cold!
