Deströyer 666 - Australian Tour Cancelled, New Album Renamed

The Australian tour announced by Deströyer 666 some months ago has been cancelled. Dates for the tour hadn't been posted yet, but the tour has been postponed until further notice. The reason for the postponement is the untimely death of drummer Mersus' uncle. The band has however been confirmed for the United Metal Maniacs Festung Festival 2009.

In other Deströyer 666 news, the upcoming new album from the band originally titled "Siege" has now been renamed to "Defiance".

Hmmm, sucks about the tour, but on another note I thought Siege was a better title. Is this the 2nd or 3rd time this album has been renamed?

Seige. Defiance. not really intriguing titles, but workable, i suppose.

I think the original working title was like "The Last Stand" or something.

It's a shame about the tour. Hopefully it won't be too long until it's re-announced.

According to their myspace though, the title "Siege" has been shelved to be used for their next album so I suppose it's no big deal.

Yeah that sounds about right. Maybe they didn't want people thinking it was their last album or something. Type O Negative's "Life Is Killing Me" album was originally going to be called "The Dream Is Dead" but they change it for that reason.

Well, their album titles have never been that inspiring anyway. Not that it matters, Phoenix Rising is far better than its generic title would suggest. Although I guess Cold Steel... For An Iron Age was a cool one.

US, North America, I don't care, as long as they play Chicago again.

I had the pleasure of seeing them on the first (and only, thus far) US tour. They have done a couple one-off shows and festivals, but only one actual US tour back in 2006. It wasn't much of a tour - only 7 shows - but they were absolutely brilliant.

Yeah that US "tour" was a bit of a stretch - driving 4 hours to New York was just not worth the excessive cost, unknown club, and hotel room I'd would have had to come up with, so I've yet to see them as well. Considering it's been over 6 years since their last full-length, though, I really am not going to hold my breath for a visit anytime soon...
