Blabbermouth is reporting that Gorguts, the acclaimed technical death metal band from Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, have reportedly reformed with a brand new lineup and are currently working on material for a new studio album. Four songs are said to have already been completed, with several more on the way.

Gorguts' current lineup is reportedly as follows:

  • Luc Lemay (Negativa) - Vocals, Guitar
  • Kevin Hufnagel (Dysrhythmia, While Heaven Wept, Byla, Euclid Street, The Fifth Season, Grey Division Blue) - Guitar
  • Colin Marston (Dysrhythmia, Behold... The Arctopus, Byla, Krallice, Indricothere) - Bass
  • John Longstreth (Dim Mak, Origin, The Red Chord, Skinless, Possession, Angelcorpse) - Drums

Gorguts' last studio album, "From Wisdom to Hate", was released in 2001.

    UPDATE

Quick update. This week, Gorguts did a few live shows, together with Krallice and Portal, on the opening dates of Bloody Panda's North American tour. The band confirmed they're working on a new album but won't hit the studio until "late fall" or "Christmas". A fan-recorded live version of a previously unreleased song, with the simple working title, "Number Three" can be found on YouTube.

It's always interesting waiting for new material from a band that has achieved something really unique. Looking forward to hearing what Lemay and company come up with this time.

Gorguts is reforming? But I thought they broke up forever. Well, I seriously hope the new material will be good, considering the case that the new material is bound to suck when a band is reformed.

I really don't know about this report. I can't find anything about it anywhere on the net besides blabbermouth. And on this sites news it even says blabbermouth is reporting. Blabbermouth could have fabricated it for all I know. Hope its true though that'd be the best news I've heard since 2009 started.

Well, this is something to look forward to. I thought they were going to change the band name.

COLIN MARSTON FUCKING LEAVE FROM THERE AND MAKE MORE INFIDEL? / CASTRO!

Or just do Obscura 2. Just make something that doesn't suck please.

I'm confused. How is this Gorguts "reformed"? Negativa has more Gorguts members than the reformed Gorguts does.

I'll keep my expectations low. Although that lineup isn't lacking in technical ability, that's for sure.
    Black Conundrum - 14.03.2009 at 05:12
Rejoice, for Gorguts is reformed. If it is true.

On another note, I didn't know Gorguts and While Heaven Wept have connections.

Niiiice, however, with only one origional member, the prospect seems a little bit bleak.
    LethargyMan - 15.03.2009 at 07:19
    No "Big Steeve"?

    I'm a little disheartened.

Man this has been talked about for awhile now. If Lemay goes Jari style on us I'll go insane.
