I already have quite a few albums to look forward to in 2016, so I figured we'd go ahead and get this thread started. The two so far are the upcoming Ctheilist and Lycus albums. Ctheilist embody all that is great with strange Lovecraftian death metal, while Lycus are an incredibly solid funeral doom outfit.

Well I wasn't posting anything as I thought there wasn't much action going on to be missed. But quite some good stuff still come up before there is a slump and wrap up for 2016.

So here's some simple, no non-sense stoner fun from the Frenchies. Quite enjoyed this a lot.

Elcam - Chunk

More stoner fun from Germany. Easily my favorite genre to go gem hunting. Also love those colorful covers, keep 'em coming guys.

Motherbrain - Voodoo Nasty

Pretty not bad! Really cosmic which is pretty unusual for a thrash band. The soloing reminds me of Mithras a tad.

I've come to expect that with thrash bands sadly. Could be a lot better indeed.

But overall it is still better than majority of the bands in this genre

Already the best thrash album I've heard this year I'm actually really liking this a lot. I love how totally over the top the soloing is.

Yeah sounds like post-punk / neofolk type thing to me =P

This sounds really impressive. Massive sounding, ambient, electronic and Jazz-oriented avant-garde metal / music. It's instrumental thankfully as it sounds like there's already enough going on, though it does feature the odd background vocal though only for subtle effect. Really nice and the production is incredible. Has a great sense of airy space about it but the frantic percussion really keeps you on your toes on many of the tracks.

Explosive combination of grind/ thrash/ death . I rarely like anything of this nature, but this one actually works

Quite fun and retro sounding hard rock / heavy metal. Surprised it hasn't been mentioned on this thread at all. Production and sound is really thick and surprisingly atmospheric for the genre. The bass sound is out of this world. Vocals are occasionally annoying however.

Q'uq'umatz just released an outrageously epic and badass album, better than Tepeu I think https://ququmatz.bandcamp.com/album/i-know-its-the-trees

I wanna pretend like I didn't make it, then I could talk about how great it is and recommend it without bias

Greek melodic black. Standard fair but good worthwhile bm.

Nipenthis - One With The Void

Swedish Black/Death.

Avslut - Vanskapt

Psychedelic/progressive metal. Probably the most interesting among rec here.

Cosmodeums - A Season of Mirrors

Black/Doom from USA. Fairly decent I guess, production and sound are fitting. Good listen.

Ancestral Awakening - Devoured By Darkness

Doom/stoner rock. Paraphrasing one of the responses I saw which summarises this pretty neat: "Is it even possible to sound more like Ozzy?" No, probably not I guess. Unbelievable how similar to Ozzy's the vox are.

Snowchild - Age Of Change

US Blackened Crust Punk.

East Sherman - Desertification EP

Excellent sounding doom grind or sludge or whatever. Filthy and awesome.

Kihalás - Mass Extinction Demos

"Sludge/doom band from the NJ area. Members of Null & Void, Sunrot, Sentient Horror, Black Urn, and Inertia."

Cowardice - Without Condolence

I'm actually surprised people aren't commenting on this one. I like to think they scrolled past your post and missed, yes. There's no way someone would have listened to a record of that caliber and ignored it, really.

I tell you it's been a while since I listened to stuff that good among the lofi avantblack scene. This time the song transictions fit a lot better than they did in the debut. Plus the folky flute parts, and the bass, damn dude...
I wish I was more articulate to tell what I think about it properly, but summarizing: holy shit =]

Fricking excellent funeral death doom shared by Deinonychus. Sound, atmosphere, vocals. Seems to have it all spot on. Haven't heard it all yet but if the songs check out like they seem to then it's a winner, and finally a truly worthy entry of this type this year.

I did bring it up but still no. Maybe they just didn't even bother because literally not one second passes on the very first track before it's just immediately shredding metal. They're loss amirite

I was worried about possibly ruining the magic of the debut but I was struck with a major creative surge.

On topic, I'm still absolutely in love with Ufonaut, but Jute Gyte came through with another fantastic album that could possibly bump it off (maybe I shouldn't be too worried about my stuff when this guy releases like 12 badass albums a year). Anicon have put out a really majestically epic melodic black metal riff extravaganza that I don't know if I've mentioned.
