Symphony X - Sign With Nuclear Blast

Official press release

Nuclear Blast is extremely proud to announce the signing of metal / prog gods Symphony X!

Symphony X exemplifies the technical sophistication of progressive metal while transcending the genre by writing amazing songs with masterful musicality and great hooks!

This New York based super group effortlessly creates a balancing act between solid, accessible arrangements and song structures with highly technical, challenging instrumental work and unbelievable melodic vocal harmonies. This embrace of polyphonic lead vocals, combined with their classical-sometimes even Queen-like choruses create a powerful, in-your-face mixture.

With elements of thundering metal, rock, solos with unstoppable guitar shredding and intense keyboards - this potent group has grown with every release and is poised to compete with the commercial success of top groups in all genres!

Symphony X is currently creating their next masterpiece, anticipated in the spring of 2010!

"We are happy to be the part of the Nuclear Blast Family and look forward to working with them for many years to come," says guitarist Michael Romeo.

Seriously, that's what it seems like.

Every time I check this site, there's a featured article about someone signing to Nuclear Blast. There have been at least 10 within the last couple of weeks.

It will be interesting to see what kind of change this could bring to their sound. Although I don't know, if the album comes out in spring '10, the label change is probably irrelevant for this release...right?

Meh, I've yet to see any band change their sound after signing with Nuclear Blast. Seems like they just get bands who are already successful and let them do their own thing, but with more funding and tours.

Does anyone know what label SX were with before this?

New York based? I believe they are from New Jersey, which I consider to be rather distinct from NY.

As far As I know they were singed with Inside Out - those who bring us Ayreon and Evergrey.
Personally - I think this move was right on time - after establishing themselves as a dominant, yet somewhat underground, force in the prog scene now they can break out even more with the support of NB - seriously, if a a bunch of ametures like Deathstars can break out and get millions of watches in their idiotic video clips on Youtube, imagine the possibilities of a band like SX!

I would tend to agree with the person who said before me that their sound will not change, but my guess would be that now they might even have a better production on their hands, not to mention finally the anknowledgement they deserve in the worldwide metal scene!

New album on the horizon, I don't care about which label they're in as long as their albums are good.

I hope it's good.

Well... north-north Jersey isn't that much different from New York, at least from a visitor's point of view, but I still understand confusion over the error. But technicalities aside, I am pumped to hear what is coming next year...

Haha, I bet you do! I was quite surprised by these news actually. I would've never thought that Symphony X is the kind of band Nuclear Blast had their eye on.

I will soon be able to say "R.I.P Symphony X". Sign with a major label and things are bound to change for the worst. I of course hope this isn't the case but I have my doubts.

R.I.P Symphony X until further notice.

Signing with a major label didn't hurt Riverside... too bad that label was InsideOut (right before Second Life Syndrome), which is who Symphony X is leaving

They could be based in New York now...people move...I honestly thought that Symphony X were on some sort of hiatus because they weren't...heard from for a long time? I dunno...their last album was a hit and miss for me...

Guilty until proven innocent then I see.
Seriously, this kind of attitude is just pathetic.
