Closely before midnight i have listened to "Blind Guardian - Skalds And Shadows", but then i have loaded new stuff into my Winamp - an album of Belorussian folk metal band Weeping Twilight and those beautiful happy melodies was the first thing, i have heard in new year What are yours?

First song of the new year for me was A Storm Of Light - Black Ocean

Tristania - Fate, which happened to be the random song my stereo picked out. I only happened to notice it because the line "Always chasing those elusive dreams" came across nicely during one of those silent moments during a conversation

I watched V for Vendetta, and right now I'm watching Gladiator, but tomorrow the first songs I'll listen to will surely be Queensryche's "I don't believe in Love", and maybe Foo Fighter's "Long Road to Ruin"

Uff. I ended the year with Amorphis - Skyforger (from "Skyforger") and started with... hell knows, but I can choose the album now since I'm home.

I kind of slept through New Years (again). But when I got into work today and turned on my Last.fm station the first song to play was Cromwell by Reverend Bizarre.

As good a song to start the year off as any.

I did listen to Queensryche's I don't believe in love and Foo Fighters Long road to ruin, also listened to a band called El Cuarteto de Nos, and now I'm listening to some covers by Graveworm.

Hehe, the first song would be an edited version of Scorpions - Hurricane 2000 that was playing with some crazy lasers on TV like 20 minutes after midnight.

First album - Redemption - Snowfall on Judgement Day - one of my favourite albums of 2009. I'm listening to it right now.

i know, but it sounds very classic(apart from the production) and if it was slipped as a track on "The Headless Children" it would go unnoticed, don't you think?

I suppose so. As for me...My first song was 2 Minutes To Midnight. We played it at 2 minutes to midnight. It was the only thing everyone at the party could agree on.

At 2:47am of the first day of 2010 I listened to ''Dreams'' from Týr album Eric the Red.

There is no such thing as pirate metal. And comparing Alestorm with Swashbuckle is weird as well imo for Alestorm play cheesy power metal and Swashbuckle play thrash metal and tbh terrible thrash metal. A band that gives thrash a bad name.

Since I started this same thread in the wrong place and no one answered I might as well add to this one lol. It was 'Out Of The Silent Planet' by, of course, Iron Madien.

I was too drunk to remember. Probably some pop song played at the party.

My I-pod was on random on my hi-fi player for the whole evening, with my friends chatting, so we didn't hear much. But at midnight, I raised the volume and Moonspell - From Lowering Skies was playing.

I've actually been listening to a lot of stuff I haven't listened to in awhile... I think the first album I listened to yesterday was Iron Maiden's first album... It still rocks as hard as I remember. >:[
