If you click "bands" on the toolbar, then "albums", input "2010" in "From this year" and "2010" in "To this year", select "Black" in "Filter by style", check "Only with reviews"... there are 35 albums to narrow down your missed connection.

I wonder if it's Alcest - Écailles De Lune... but I don't think anyone missed out on that one.

Borknagar maybe? I don't think the reviewer said anything about it being one of the best albums of the year though. Probably because it's boring as fuck...

That does sound like a possibility (especially since it is within the time frame), minus the "best album of the year" quote... I enjoyed it.

I think we can all agree you won't find what you're looking for dude. It's been 3/4 of a year.

This should be locked. It has gone nowhere, he has been shown how to find this "mysterious" band, therefore his question answered.
