What is your favorite Agalloch full-length studio album? Please give a detailed explanation of why you prefer one album to the other works Agalloch has released (Please, don't reply with answers like, "Mantle"). The point is I don't want EPs discussed here. Studio albums only.
The poll title is "Your Favorite Agalloch Album" not "your favorite Agalloch studio album"

I personally enjoy Korn's "Follow the Leader". It's so catchy and the rapping is pretty slick.

Talk about your all time backfires!
i locked a prior thread and basically gave BluemangroupiusX the green light to create a new one. hopefully without one word answers.
so, as Naboo Fried Chicken Porkins says,

Blues gave parameters, stay within them and discuss your reasons why.

This is kind of tough. I would have to go with Ashes, but it has a lot of filler. Second would be Pale Folklore and then the Mantle. Not a big fan of new album. The second song is decent but it's a bit boring.

Ashes. It has these superb clean vocal lines and is very atmospheric.

I wanted to ask the very same thing, this is probably the third topic in the past few weeks. Anyone care to explain?
Back to the topic, The Mantle gets my vote. Somehow the atmosphere is quite to my liking.

As for serious answer my pick is The Mantle. Its just a beautiful genre bending album which nothing else really sounds like (or pulls offf that well anyways). Its melancholy is perfect, especially when its raining. I feel kind of biased because i do remember listening to Pale Folklore and Ashes Against the Grain and finding them rather bland, although this was a couple of years ago which since then my taste has become much more "refined", as well as unfarely comparing them to the mantle.

Yeah i know what the fuckin rules are, but i don't like the other album, i fuckin hate it, do you want me to spam that album? do you? i even don't like "The Mantle" that much, but between these two albums i will go with the "The Mantle", relieved now? jeeez
Calm it down tough guy, one-word responses are spam, as explained in our FAQ. No need to go on a rant because you broke a rule.

I was fairly sure i asked "explain your answers"... the arena FAQ says the same:
Posters:
* Always give detailed opinions, with explanations and as much as information as needed. If you're gonna answer the topic "Mayhem vs Marduk" with "MAYHEM!!!!!", you can count the days till you get banned. That's just spamming.
* When voting, tell us WHY you did it that way, try to establish comparisons between the bands opposed in the thread. You can compare their musicians, their albums, their live performances, and so on.
* Never reply to a topic if you don't know more than half of the information required about the bands mentioned in the topic.
the last thread was locked due to one word answers. this time i'll let the thread be, warn posters who just answer with no explanations, then delete their posts.
if you don't have anything to say, just don't fucking answer.

Well Agalloch is my favourite band and many will say Ashes.. and i adore that album..but i would go for the Mantle bcz i think it's exactly what they wanted to do..everybody loves Ashes...bcz it's more metal n have no such folk stuff going on like all their other stuff...all agalloch releases are folky and have some folk instruments except for Ashes...it's the pure metal Agalloch and i don't think they would or could top it again...personally i prefer the folky agalloch
