Caïna's Hands That Pluck

I only heard "Some People Fall" and I remember that the production sucked but the music was good

Cool beans, will check them out asap. Got Caina's one, will have to make some time to listen to it properly. It looks... varied on a quick flick through it. Whether varied will translate into inconsistent will remain to be seen.

Yeah I've been listening to it non-stop, it's available for free on their website. The Giles Corey album is pretty good, not as good as Death consciousness but has an emotional weight that stands on its own.

I noticed, I didn't have time to check all of them out either, I'll update my own list soon enough with some of the titles on your list I'm sure, among others. The longer the list the better.

Edit: I added 4 albums at the end of the list.

That Flourishing record sounds very interesting. Perhaps another notch in the post-death metal belt (well, there's definitely some post-hardcore going on there). Maybe a little too similar to Ulcerate at times?

Also, did you buy that Botanist record because I'm buggered if I can find it. Not even on Soulseek. It's the record that's piquing my interest the most too.

I didn't buy it, I got the music off someone I randomly met in the university library while in the U.S. I'd send them to you if I could but the internet here is beyond awful, there are some samples available on their website though, it could help you decide on whether you want to order it or not. Someone's bound to upload it somewhere sooner or later.

Btw you should check Aliases' Safer than Reality, Sikth's guitarists new band it's solid not nearly as good as Sikth though.

Samples would be good, I'll go have a hunt.

Not really, not for me When I meet someone usually I always ask them what music they listen to before asking them anything else, and since that guy listened to some metal and other stuff I sifted through his music and took those that peaked my interest (he had his laptop with him since he was studying), this album was one of them, I had actually read a review on the album before hand and couldn't find a online anywhere so I was quite content and surprised that he had it. I gave him some stuff as well, sharing is the best way to discover new music XD I don't get to share much with my Lebanese friends since they're all into commercial dance music or whatever is trendy these days, so I'm always in search of someone with similar musical inclinations.

I gave up asking people what music they're into, lest they reel off a bunch of indie crap : P

Samples do indeed sound interesting though it strikes me as odd that they'd choose such an unusual concept and approach yet deign to have the most obvious black metal styles vocals imaginable. I really like the music though so not a major concern for me.

When music that doesn't agree with me comes up, I just end the conversation in a very natural way, I got used to it over the years

I'm not too sure about the music yet, it might need a couple of more listens on my part but I'm not really having enough time with all the releases that I have yet to check out. There are also movies I want to watch, games I want to play, friends I want to hang out with, too little time to do so much.

The production in both is very different though, it's murkier and crappier compared to Ulcerate's production (not as brutal either), not in bad way though.

Thrice eh? I feel less dodgy about putting Evanescence on my list now

Ah, I also just checked and someone's finally put that Botanist record on mediafire so will be giving that a proper listen at last.

That Nightbringer album has a much better sound than the previous one too, I think I'll quite like it.

Wow, great list. Thumbs up for Giles Corey, Ampere and Necro Deathmort especially. Not so sure about that Thrice, nice rich sound but lacking in good songwriting IMO. In that alt-rock/post-hardcore field, I way preferred the new Thursday album. It's not a very good comparison, but just name-dropping it since it's so damn infectious.

I didn't know Obscure Sphinx were female-fronted. Gonna check them out for that reason alone. I had ignored them so far, figuring I had enough doom and sludge to keep track of as is. I guess I'll have to go through your list one by one.

I always liked Thrice's albums, so I don't mind putting it on the list, i especially like the guitar work. Nightbringer's album has a more monolithic/grandiose sound, much more than their previous efforts I see absolutely no reason why you wouldn't enjoy it. I've read some good stuff about the new Evanesence album but I highly doubt that I'll be checking it out anytime soon, unless someone convinces that it's worth my precious time.

Actually the Nightbringer album, to me, has a less intense sound - more organic drums / less overblown guitar sound - so the result is something a bit more balanced and listenable. Other's don't seem to see it though,
