Shrouded in mystery, they used to play a more typical (but very good) raw sounding black metal but 'Si Monvmentvm Reqvires, Circvmspice' saw the progression on to a more modern, intelligent form. They are perhaps most famous for their lyrical content which is concerned with satanism on a metaphysical level. You have to see and hear the lyrics for yourself to gauge why they're so phenominal.
Probably my fave black metal band really.

This post always gets completely off topic. In a way, its respectful that the band is mostly unknown. I don't think anyone can really make room to judge them or ever say they're selling out, haha. They've just created something of their own and stay completely in the shadows. I've read that one interview from AJNA, but that was it..I think. Even if they would come out as a band, things wouldn't change..hopefully.

Account deleted Written by TheBigRossowski on 01.09.2008 at 11:56 I hope they don't, I have a major boner for "mysterious" bands, DSO, Velvet Cacoon, Blut aus Nord etc. I know it's pretty shallow but that's what first attracted me to them and I find the whole invisibility of their presence to have an impact on their music. I really believe that when you remove the human element from the equasion it does absolute wonders in making the music truely formless, especially for VC. There's nothing better than listening to some fantastic music not knowing where it came from, you can imagine anything you want it to be.

I think I'll be getting those too as well. I remember hearing some SVEST, but don't remember what it was like. And releasing a split cd as two different minicd's is a fucking rip-off.

It means that an opportunity to get svest some much deserved exposure might be missed. Most people buy CDs and most of these people won't pay extra to get the other half of this split if they haven't heard of svest. What's really frustrating about this is that there doesn't seem to be any reason for this aside from making money.

Veritas Diaboli Manet in Aeternum: Chaining the Katechon is probably DsO's best release since Kenose. Could just be the mood I'm in but I definitely prefer them in smaller doses and it has a load of variety in the 22 minutes or so; clean vocals too not to mention some almost melancholic passages near the beginning. Pure win. I've only listened to it the once (on my second playthrough now). It's just really nice to hear some melody amidst the chaos. They do it so well. Hopefully this'll be a blueprint for future releases.

21.12.2008 - 15:17 Written by [user id=4365] on 11.12.2008 at 16:01 Heard it yesterday and I totally agree with you. This is their best so far. What especially works well is when they shift down a gear and slow down parts. I listened to it on a good stereo and a mediocre one and this certainly a release to be listened to over a good stereo with a lot of bass in it. Btw, I don't understand people calling this ep technical. There is nothing technical about the song at all imo.

21.12.2008 - 17:22 Written by [user id=4365] on 21.12.2008 at 17:18 And even Fas I don't consider technical at all. Fas is actually an album that comes across best over a pair of really good headphones and played in a a good stereo so not over the computer via mp3. As for the new ep it really is well paced and considered. All the breaks are in just the right place.

25.12.2008 - 17:51 Written by Damnated on 25.12.2008 at 15:06 what technical gibberish? There is nothing technical about that album at all. Maybe it sounds disjointed to you (that doesn't mean it is technical) But that's the problem with listenign to it over a computer as mp3s, the quality is so much less than on an actual cd over a proper stereo with good headphones. Okay you don't like it, but calling it technical is just non-sensical.

I just ordered Veritas Diaboli Manet in Aeternum, both the Deathspell Omega and SVEST. That is kind of an awkward deal, but its still the same price as some other CDs I've seen in shops like Kataklysm or something. It costs 9 Euro for each one. I look forward to adding this to my growing collection! Oh! I can't wait to get my hands on it! And I'm keeping this order on the down low since this is the "secret" account

26.12.2008 - 01:35 Written by Marcel Hubregtse on 25.12.2008 at 17:51 nothing technical? what do you call the mixture of constant tempo changes, layered and atonal riffs, varying time signatures, lack of choruses if not technical? the music also has a post-rock sound structure, starting from a simple core evolving in it's complexity, not built around riffs, but more on atmosphere and ambiance.

The song from their side is really strong, haven't heard the SVEST part yet. 'Chaining the Katechon' is definitely better than their release on Crushing the Holy Trinity. I have nothing against that song, but I got a better vibe from the VDMA release. Why is that not on metalstorm yet?
