I took the liberty to remove the "Almost all 2011 albums were bad except for Immolation's Providence EP" nomination since I thought it was a bit to wide.

I thought the rest of the album was better than the opener. Although the album wasn't as good as their previous one.

You gotta be kidding me... You can't say that this:

Was better than the opener... That song (it's the third) is the ultimate shit song which makes the first one (an extremely generic doomy song with awful production) look like the friggin dark side of the moon.

Not to mention there hasn't been a single case in which Gallhammer were ever good at doing anything else.

Aberration is better than The End, not as good as Wander, Rubish CG202 or Sober, better than most of the songs from Gloomy Lights.
Btw, The End was one of my favorite albums for the year.

Gallhammer's 'The End' should have also been nominated.

This one really, really sucked.
A steaming pile of horse manure.

Yeah, and they aren't like Morbid Angel, who surprised us with a pile of crap. Gallhammer always seems to release awful albums.

That's the thing, they are popular (comparatively speaking). Their first album got a bizarre amount of press attention, even from relatively mainstream publications. I don't get for a second why. Initially they were touted as being similar to Weakling (how that came to be I have no idea) but for me they are the very definition of overrated.

I personally like the band but I had no idea they were touted so highly, especially in the more mainstream publications. It doesn't change my view on the sound but it definitely makes me feel like they're overrated. And comparisons to Weakling?

I looked around on Google to see what I could find and the only mainstream type of publication I came across was this popmatters website.

I'm assuming it's mainstream because it has the word "pop" in the name.

it's the ability to listen and hear that bothers me. It doesn't even sound remotely like kill a cop. So it can't even be a misheard lyric. Not even remotely funny. But then again it's kids going apeshit once again.
Meme generation for the total lose...

Whoa, holy crap, so the older generation has a better sense of humor and better working ears? Mindblown here.

You're the equivalent of an old guy yelling: "Hey you kids, no skateboarding on the side walk!". I don't know what kind of rush you get from correcting every fucking one
who writes "kill a cop", but it's pretty annoying.

Seeing as how I can predict your next post will be something along the lines of "stfu, stupid kid", I'm calling quits before all the age cards you will pull.

Yes Marcel because you've read every magazine in the world. I happened to pick up NME magazine to find Krallice featured in there around the time they released their debut. Krallice received a huge amount of attention when their debut was released considering the style. It also appeared on a number of end of year lists, once again considering it was a debut. That's what's called "attention"

well hipster isn't really mainstream, now is it? mainstream I regard billboard magazines and such. NME comes close to mainstream though.
Krallice and such are of course loved by hipsters because of the people in the band.

How are Metallica and Arch Enemy anywhere near extreme metal? I have a feeling Morbid Angel's last album would end up here (which imo isn't anything "extreme" either) but at least they have their past to consider.

Krallice pretentious? pretentious is trying to write and cram an anti-religious trilogy of recordings into one year...

Krallice is only a blip on the pretentiousness radar by comparison.

actual enjoyment of either comes down to individual tastes, which differ wildly.

it"s not about the album being extreme, it"s about the band that was/is.
Arch Enemy qualifies because of what they did before getting that screamer girl
Metallica because the threadstarter said so......

Yeah, but everyone knows a true metalhead would deny that and say that the worst metal album is lightyears ahead of the best pop album.

To say that makes you a retard, because:
