Oh. My. Fucking. God. This is incredible music. The first record I listen to of 2013 could potentially be the best.

Listen to track 3 on their Bandcamp. This stuff makes Portal sound like mellow. The riffs on track 5 could be taken from a Blut aus Nord record as well.

Oh my God, track 6... how can music sound so incredible and dissonant?!

Hmm, I just ordered this album today, but I also own their debut, which I wasn't too big on. Hopefully this will be better

It's a different league. The sound and approach on this is so perfectly punishing and confident it may as well be a different band. I doubt you'll regret your purchase.

For those curious about the title: "Indeed, the Lord recognized [those who are] his own" - a reference to the final judgement and the parting of the right-hand sheep and the left-hand goats.

I might also be a reference to Arnaud Amalric and his well known phrase at one of the crusades: Caedite eos. Novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius (Kill them all. For the Lord knoweth them that are His.)

End useless life
Slit all my wrists

It is, in fact, both! Since Arnaud Amalric was referring to the Christians being killed on behalf of the siege against the albigensian/cathars.

Less coherent than Anal Cunt.

Eric Brecht once liked my Facebook comment. Therefore, by the translative property, Chuck Schuldiner like my comment.

I don't know. If the production wasn't so tasty and all-consuming, it would be a fairly boring affair. Can't say I've come back to it much now that other stuff has been released. But I've got to admit, the sheer immensity of the sound is awesome.

Perfect summary. Shit is pure unadulterated evil. Very different for me. I love it when I find something good in other areas of music I'm not familiar with.

The sound on this album is generally depressive and brooding, but with an extremely dark tone and overbearing heaviness courtesy of the guitar work. For me the instrumentals running under a minute cut the flow of the album and the vocals appear to be buried too much into the mix, but with excellently structured songs such as 'The headless serpent' and quite brilliant instrumental 'Created sick; Commanded to be well' Abyssal seem to be firing on all cylinders with this album. Perhaps next time the band could forget about putting those sub-minute instrumentals into the finished product.
