Mötley Crüe - Announce Final Tour, Calling It Quits

After more than three decades together, iconic rock 'n roll band Mötley Crüe announced their massive Final Tour and the band's ultimate retirement. The announcement was solidified when the band signed a formal Cessation Of Touring Agreement, effective at the end of 2015, in front of global media in Los Angeles. Special guest Alice Cooper will be joining Mötley Crüe on this final tour. You can see the tour dates and flyer below.

The Final Tour will kick off in North America on July 2nd in Grand Rapids and reach 72 markets before hitting international territories in 2015. The tour will coincide with the film made from Mötley Crüe's NY Times Best-Selling book The Dirt. Jeff Tremaine (Bad Grandpa) has signed on to direct the opus that is set to debut in theaters globally in 2015, coinciding with The Final Tour.

Alice Cooper said: "Real hard rock bands are hard to find these days. Motley has always gone on stage with one attitude and that's to blow the audience away. That's exactly how we do it. Putting Mötley Crüe and Alice Cooper together is going to be just what this summer really NEEDS. We're going to go out there and tear it up, and I can't wait to see Motley on stage. Mötley Crüe and Alice Cooper - A match made in... Armageddon?"

As documented in the Cessation Of Touring Agreement, the band signed at the press conference, the band will not tour after this Final Tour. Band Attorney, Doug Mark of Mark Music & Media Law, explains: "Other bands have split up over rancor or the inability of people to get along, but this is a mutual among all four original members and peaceful decision to move on to other endeavors and to confirm it with a binding agreement."

Vince Neil, Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee, and Mick Mars will go their separate ways after the lengthy 2-year touring cycle. Tommy Lee (drums) explains: "Everything must come to an end!! We always had a vision of going out with a big fucking bang and not playing county fairs and clubs with 1 or 2 original band members! Our job here is done!"

Of the band's tumultuous history, Mick Mars (guitar) adds: "(It has been) more drama than 'General Hospital' it keeps 'em watchin' and they keep comin' back."

Vocalist Vince Neil says of the tour: "I'll miss playing with the guys but I won't quit playing rock and roll!! I feel there are a lot of great opportunities and exciting projects after Motley."

Holy shit that is a huge farewell tour - just goes to show you how big these guys still are. Never liked any of their music but I can definitely appreciate their place in rock/metal history.

Only in the US Which is btw the only country together with England/UK where they were popular during their heydays. Their gigs have been cancelled back in the day loads of times in Europe due to poor ticket sales and that was when they were at their biggest.

"Only" in the US or not, being able to sell over 30,000 tickets for a band that has clearly seen better days is quite impressive I think. They may not have a following in Europe but that doesn't mean they aren't important. Just look at bands like a-Ha or Europe as similar examples of bands that didn't strike it big over here but are still considered big on a global scale, it doesn't make their contributions any less significant.

I might actually go to that Hollywood, FL date, but more to see Alice Cooper than anything else

I am so going the Pittsburgh date, and the fact that Alice Copper is playing is a nice bonus.

It sounds like they're going to, from what I heard in various places. But, and I say this as a big Crue fan, I'd much prefer it if their last album remained Saints of LA. Even if it wasn't a great album, it was a good one and a definitely suitable farewell album for the band.

Definitely going to check out the Mountain View date.

Motley isn't all that great live but it's the last time! Plus Alice Cooper puts on one of the best shows in the world, no exaggeration.

With all the extreme excesses, how the fuck these guys kept rocking for more than 30 days, much less 30 years is beyond comprehension. Good way to go out, with another long-time fantastic showman as well!

Well at least with the legally binding agreement they won't turn into Kiss or something. I wonder if this means they'll come out with an extended version of The Dirt.

I'm surprised how positive everyone is here. I thought metal communities were supposed to hate Mötley Crüe.

Anyway, I'll try to make it out to one of these shows. I've never seen them before and I've always wanted to. Same with Alice Cooper. I'm not sure what to think of the contract thing though. Part of me expects them to come back in five years with the excuse of "MC DON'T FOLLOW NO LAWS" or something like that, but if they really do honor their pact to disband after this, that's very admirable. Let's hope they're Goin' Out Swingin'.

Whatever, don't really care for them. But hopefully their fans get a good last show in for old times sake.

About time. They put out 3 good records and should have called it quits when they parted ways with Vince way back when.
