There's something naturally interesting about Icelandic music. Perhaps it's out of predilection for its origin, geographic distance and isolation at the top of the world. Whatever the case may be, there's one particular metal band who have managed to convey their own meaning in this phenomena.

Ridiculously good album, Like K7 said, this is passionate music, heavy layering and ambience create a great atmosphere that doesn't get too crowded.

Otta means cat in my language.

It means "he/she took x out of y" in mine. Did you listen to this one yet?

Not that familiar with post-metal, but this is some nice stuff for sure... sounds very original (to me). Going to spin it a few times more to find out whether I'll keep liking it as much as I did after one spin.

I am not sure why this is considered post...

First three tracks where nice and fresh. But I didn;t enjoy that much the rest of the album, it was not of my taste.

Damn. This was boring. "Til Valhallar" was the only track I found mildly amusing and which didn't made me want to skip ahead.

I don't know by what means people here in ms categorize both solstafir and ahab as post-metal. I believe it worths of discussion.

The problem arises when regular uses get enough points to acquire the genre editing permission. I'm fairly sure I know who changed this to post-metal as it happened shortly after he gained said perms, and he also brought up the idea of Solstafir being post-metal in a thread a long time ago (and it was decided that it wouldn't be changed at the time).

You could always mention it here if you like: http://metalstorm.net/forum/topic.php?topic_id=51152

Wasn't me...and I agree , this band is not a post metal band. They incorporate some post elements but shouldn't be the main genre tag.

I'm honestly not sure who added the post-metal tag. It was either you, me, Johan, or Barry - the only ones who have edited the band's style. I wouldn't rule myself out to be honest, although I'm assuming there was some kind of consensus reached if that's the case.

Regardless, I gave it a bit of a new look that might better reflect their sound. Still not sure if it's entirely accurate though, it's been way too long since I've listened to anything that isn't their new album.

This band are very much post-metal, increasingly so over the past few albums. I think its debatable whether this particular album has them straying outside metal for the most part. Personally I'd say it retains enough of a metal tone to be considered as post-metal, as opposed to post-rock. Though the latter definitely has more of an influence here than it ever has in the band's music.

Oh well then, I guess it wasn't who I thought it was. Guess I have chicken embryo on my face now.

Don't worry, you weren't my main suspect actually I didn't know you could even edit genres.
