Devin Townsend - New Album Teaser, European Tour Dates

The mighty Devin Townsend are releasing their new album this October. Their show at London's prestigious Royal Albert Hall venue happening on the 13th of April next year is already sold out, and now they can reveal an extensive run of European shows for 2015 which will include support from Periphery and Shining (NOR). Not bad, right? Devin Townsend also shared a trailer for the Z² album, which can be viewed here. Enjoy!

will be released on the 27th of October 2014 in Europe and 28th of October in the US via Inside Out Music.

Devin had this to say: "Now that the recording and mixing for Z2 is finished, it's time to gear up for touring again! There's a bunch of events coming up, and one of them that I'm extremely proud to announce is a European headlining tour with support from the incredible Periphery and the insane Shining (NOR)! That's a heck of a line-up I think, each band is doing something unique from each other, yet are really well defined. It will be an opportunity for us to explore our back catalogue as well as the Z2 albums, Sky Blue and Dark Matters (from the upcoming double album, Z2). One of the greatest things about doing this for as long as I have is that we get to do these sorts of awesome events. I can't even begin to express how honoured I am to share the stage with these incredible bands, and to have such overwhelming support from the audience lately. It's honestly just an absolute pleasure to do this. So it is with great pride I invite you to the show! Hopefully we come near you, let's do this!"

Pretty cool ! The sound is very much aligned with DTP's Deconstruction record, which is excellent news.

Huge disappointment not seeing Lisbon on that list, especially after Devin's amazing show here in 2012. Oh, well... maybe there will be more dates.

I'll try not to think about that and focus on the sweetness that this new Z2 album should be.

It's the sequel to a story about an alien who goes to war against mankind because they weren't able to satisfy his need for a quality cup of coffee within the first five minutes of him appearing on Earth. How could he go even more over the top?

No i totally agree with you on that! What i meant was Devin relying to heavily on 'Theatrics' and not musicianship. I hope that makes sense. High hopes for Z2

Hmm, he recently asked fans if they wanted a version of the album without the dialogue, so I think there's a lot of focus on musicianship. Only time will tell though, I'm pretty optimistic

Really he did? I think it's safe to say that he has set the bar really high with the first release of Ziltoid and like you said, "Only time will tell"

Yeah, it was on Facebook although I can't seem to find the post anymore. Maybe I imagined it.

He also posted it a tonne on his twitter. Can't remember when though. I also remember him reading that he decided to remaster the record after he had heard the early press-released master since he wasn't happy about one of the songs. So, yeah, I think he realised how high the first Ziltoid bar is. :3

Just informing you that the Digipack edition (which you can pre-order here) has a bonus disc without the dialogue. So he did indeed go through with it.
