I like the singing in this one. Nice, mid-tempo song, sounds less forced, more natural than the title track.

Wouldn't even make the bottom 30.

Not bad, I like the Iron Maiden influence on this one.
The solo is just boring but the song overall was very enjoyable. This album looks promising.

The song is quite enjoyable but Lars' drumming is just ruining it for me... Seriously, does these guys listen to what he's doing ? Also Kirk's solo is as bad as always.

Great track, that instrumental bit after the second chorus is great. Definitely NWOBHM inspired but still with the Metallica touch.

Loved everything about the song. the guitar melodies, lyrics, vocals. Excited as hell for the new album!

PS. the usual pattern of metallica haters. lol. one curses the drums, the next says all is good but Kirk sucks, the next says it's nothing compared to Ride the Lightning/Master of Puppets. make up your mind guys

Really nice song, noting fancy but it's quit enjoyable. Kirk's solo isn't something that fits the song, seems more in place on Load or even reload.

I'm talking about this 1:28, 2:41, 3:03. For me the similarities to the referred song are clear but perhaps "stolen" is a big word to use here. The whole song oozes NWOBHM imo.

It's one thing when you talk about likeness and dislikeness. but to straight out say that Kirk is a shitty guitarist, and Lars cant play drums just shows bias. Both are great musicians and are creating good music.

The instrumentation was good. throughout the song.

Sounds quite good. After the deeply mediocre "Hardwired" and "Moth Into Flame" which wasn't too bad, I didn't know what to think about the new album. But now I'm a bit more optimistic about it.
"Atlas, Rise!" is a grower. Most of Metallica "haters" will dismiss it out of hand after one listen, or half a listen. Fair enough, no one is forcing them to listen. But those who will give the song a few listens might grow to like it, just like I did.

I'm not saying Lars can't play drums. He played some of the greatest drum tracks of the 80's, but I feel his drum writing nowadays is just amateurish. The problem is not that he's not playing complicated stuff, the problem is that the drum parts are so uninspired, I mean a (bad) beginner drummer could write stuff like this, just listen to the chorus man. Also Kirk's solo doesn't fit this song at all. I'm not a Metallica hater, and I'm not comparing to the good ol' days of Metallica. I'm allowed to criticize a new Metallica song without being a stereotypical piece of shit, you know. For instance I still quite like the song, and I found Moth into flames great.

Agree on vocals, Hetfield put a bit of effort on this one and he done it right

so the measure of whether music is good or bad is whether a beginner can play it or not? and you exaggerate, the drums are pretty good, 90% of the bands we listen to and praise have simpler drums than this.

also, what makes a solo "fit"? we've seen guitar solos played with orchestras in the background, with keyboards, without bass, without rhythms, I mean what havent we heard to this day? and some people still debate whether a solo "fits" a song or not. I really dont understand that. The solo was highly consistent with the rhythm section, and it sounded good. that's enough for me.

Lars' problem is he doesn't practice enough anymore. AT the moment James is even a better drummer than Lars. Lars used to be an alright drummer, but never was a great drummer, not even on the first couple of albums. But at least he could keep it tight. Nowadays he is all over the place, especially live. And in the studio he just can't keep up with the other three. He is constantly running late.

This song is a whole lot of "meh". Doesn't seem like they're successfully capturing much of the essence of their former glory, which I assume is the intent here. I do appreciate and admire the attempt, though. At least they're not making St. Anger part 2.

Well, inspiration by Master Of Puppets title song is more than obvious, though this song is a bit slower...it concerns singing, drumming and some riffs too. however, while the guitar solo is very weak, the drum works overall is just terrible! the band should hire some decent drummer, Lars ruins all the rest effort

That was the intent on Death Magnetic, not here.
