When the Tool memes and jokes about the release turn out to be more interesting than the actual release itself.

It sounds like Tool just jamming. It's okay with a few cool riffs, but it's fairly generic by Tool's standards.

Aaaaand here we have winner for upcoming MS awards. Not because it's good, but because it's from Tool. It's sad.

With all the hype and 10+ years of anticipation, this first single never stood a chance to live up to it all IMO. Still doesn't justify just how boring this is though. It almost sounds like another band trying to be Tool at points.

Chill out guys... We don't have the complete album to find out which song should be played along with this one to blow our minds.

It's ... fine?
It's intricate and beautifully crafted. It sounds...practiced. All that time polishing it seems to have taken away some of the bite that I associate with Tool, though. Maybe they will find that again on the road? Hope so.

It's pretty good. No where near my favorite from them. Probably won't be my favorite on the album either. Their singles are never the best on the album.

Absolutely stunning song. I am pretty enthusiastic about the forthcoming album. I've been waiting for 13 years.

Sounds like sth I'd appeciate more in the context of the album than as a standalone

After sitting here listening to it a few times with no distractions, I will say that on it's own, it is O.K. However, I think Tool albums are best experienced as a whole, so if the next song on the album really jams and escalates the power and tempo near the end even further, it will make this one twice as good.

Sounds like a Tool demo for some record company minus Maynard's scream. The riffs are toolish but Maynard's heart doesn't seem to be in it. I hope in the context of the album, this single flows better.

Immunity long overdue
Contagion I exhale you
Lying I opened up to you
Venom in mania
Now, contagion I exhale you
The deceiver he says you belong to me
You don't want to breathe the light of the others
Fear the light
Fear the breathe
Fear the others for eternity
But I hear them now inhale the clarity
Hear the venom, the venom in what you say ? inoculated
Bless this immunity
Bless this immunity
Bless this immunity
Exhale, expel
Recast my tale
Weave my allegorical elegy
Enumerate
All that I'm to do
Calculating steps away from you
My own mitosis
Growing through delusion from mania
Exhale, expel
Recast my tale with my allegorical elegy
Forfeit all control
You poison
You spectacle Exorcise the spectacle
Exorcise the malady
Exorcise the disparate
Poison for eternity
Purge me and evacuate
The venom and the fear that binds me
Unveil now
Lift away
I see you running
Deceiver chased away
A long time coming

This just sounds like a mix from some tracks of Aenima and Lateralus. I don't know what to think of the new track.

Timing guys, it's call timing. It took you 10 years and you decided to deliver this boring and generic track just the same year Soen gave us a great album.
These guys are dead, they just don't know it yet. And Lotus was a great funeral ceremony for them.
