Swedish devil worshippers Watain have released a brand new single, "The Howling", in preparation of their upcoming seventh studio album The Agony & Ecstasy Of Watain. The latter was recorded at Necromorbus Studios outside of Uppsala, Sweden, and will be available through Nuclear Blast Records on 29th of April 2022.
The track list reads as follows:
01. Ecstasies In Night Infinite
02. The Howling
03. Serimosa
04. Black Cunt
05. Leper's Grace
06. Not Sun Nor Man Nor God
07. Before The Cataclysm
08. We Remain
09. Funeral Winter
10. Septentrion
Not one of their best imo, it's an alright track, but nothing particularly memorable. Never really been that into Watain tbh, just standard black metal with some alright melodic moments imo.

I think Casus Luciferi has some of the best black metal production of all time, and Lawless Darkness (which actually won the Swedish equivalent of a Grammy, for whatever that's worth) is basically the apex of melodic black. Later albums have had more ups and downs though.

It sounds like I've underestimated them, I should maybe give their early work another shot, and see if I can appreciate there music bit more. The one album that I found myself liking the most was Sworn To The Dark.

You should give Casus Luciferi a shot then. It is more raw-sounding but still very thrashy and intense like that album. "Puzzles Ov Flesh" is one of my favourite black metal songs of all time.
