Here are the nominations for the 2008 Grammy awards for metal:

* "Nothing Left" - As I Lay Dying
* "Never Ending Hill" (from Give Me Your Soul...Please) - King Diamond
* "Aesthetics of Hate" - Machine Head
* "Redemption" (from Threads of Life) - Shadows Fall
* "Final Six" (from Christ Illusion, special edition) - Slayer

Who do you think will win? Who do you want to win?

I really would like Slayer to win (they won last year), but I'd be satisfied if King Diamond or Machine Head win. More than likely, though, it will be As I Lay Dying.

I'd say that out of those songs I personally like "Redemption" the best. I have no idea who will win though. It seems that whenever they award anything they always will choose the one I don't like, LOL.

I'm confused at Final Six being nominated, since it's just a bonus track and there are many other songs on Christ Illusion that are better, but I still want Slayer to win

I'd easily vote for King Diamond, the others don't interest me one bit. I don't care about new Slayer either

As much as King's latest album was a failure when compared to ALL (Yes, including The Eye, Voodoo and The Spider's Lullaby) his previous albums, it still stands out amongst the choices here.

The new Slayer album didn't do it for me, and I'm a big Slayer fan.
I'd like to see Machine Head win it, awesome song and wicked live.

I'd love to see Slayer win and walk down the aisle and accept the award wearing their normal dirty clothes and Kerry King with that huge spikey forearm band deal.

Of cause that Never Ending Hill is the best song from the list, I mean, it is King Diamond!

...all other songs are terrible by my opinion, even Slayer..

Final Six is up cos the reissue was released this year, the normal album last year.

mankv how come the hard rock nominees aren't here too? Ozzy was in there & I think another band from this site...

Personally I don't care about these awards, most likely shit will win, I mean over half the nominated bands suck anyway. I think it's awarded in Feb 08

Lol, I'm listening to a joke nu-metal song called 'Nothing Left' at the moment.

King Diamond should win, but Machine Head or someone will.

Im gonna have to agree here, King Diamond should win, but pretty much your gonna have to look at the band with the best promotion, which I think is Slayer...the grammys tend to be a bit of a joke.

perhaps, I think Slayer is a commonly known name by anyone with the slightest interest in metal, Ive never actually heard As I Lay Dyings music, and I didnt know Shadows Fall was even big enough to get into grammy nominations.

It's just that As I Lay Dying and Shadow's Fall are the big "thing" right now. Slayer and King Diamond are timeless, and Machine Head has proven their worth, but aren't very powerful today, mainstream-wise.

Meh. 2 metalcore bands, a groove metal band, a washed-up thrash band and a heavy metal band with a half-decent song.... All bad choices, I think, although King Diamond is a bit better than the rest.

How do they select nominees for Grammys anyway?

Hmmm not my cup of tea, but there are good bands, but Im intrested why is only Nu,Modern and Thrash metal bands that gets nomenee in these kind of events. Personaly I only like King out of those, not to have anything agaist others it just bugs me that its always the same type of bands...:noidea::

I think it's something like...they poll everyone who's up for a grammy this year + their record executives or something. Also, I think winners last year vote.

My vote goes to Machine Head, Aesthetics Of Hate is definitely my favorite song by MH. But I'm pretty much certain that the grammy award winner will be 'As I Lay Dying'. Grammy awards are nothing but a mockery. Disgusting
