This list is exactly what one would expect; a continually expanding list of my favourite drummers in metal, or if not really metal at least in bands featured on Metal Storm.

My requirements for them is fairly open ended, they just have to be either really good, innovative, I like their style, etc. Not ranked in any particular order.

hehe, and I also like that you found a spot for Nameless Ghoul in there. And another interesting thing I noticed is that the photo for the list is of Lars Ullrich but he doesn't get a spot in the list. I reckon he's done some really good stuff.

Ghost's drummer live had energy, technique, and style that honestly made a large contribution to their mind boggling show.

The Lars picture is a joke (I like that cheeky look on his face), he is now only a sad shadow of his former self.... But I agree that back in the day he knew what was up.

I would put Sean Reinert on here, His drumming with Cynic is excellent.

Added, no idea why he wasn't either because I love Cynic and listen to Focus quite often....

Ghost's drummer

If you add B.C. to Ghost (since the band's name is Ghost B.C. now) then it will link properly to the band's MS profile.

It varies who their live drummer is from tour to tour and some times even from show to show during a tour.

@psykometal: Ghost will always be Ghost to me.... FUCKING LEGAL PEOPLE HAVE TO RUIN EVERYTHING GOOD ABOUT MUSIC (I'm gonna change it though: edit nvm fuck that shit, I ain't tha one)

@Marcel: if that is so then the night I saw them (April something 2012 in Toronto) their drummer was a boss. And whoever drummed on the album did a fine job too.
Ace Frawley - 01.04.2013 at 00:10
I've noticed on a lot of footage I've seen of Ghost that the drummer plays the hi-hats with his left hand, which is unusual for a right-handed drummer, so a reversal of this would probably be a good indication of a different guy on the throne.

I like that list! All dood drummers, specially Yanick Bercier!

I put an addition, just for fun

My best: Ingo Schwichtenberg - First Helloween drummer died in 1995.
My best alive: Blake Richardson - Between the buried and me

Why is Jay Lane on this list for Primus and not the way better and more versatile Tim Alexander?

Probably since Green Naugahyde is the first Primus album I listened to where the drumming really stood out as what was likely the best part. I suppose Tim Alexander is more of a key player in their history and a great drummer too though, I think I'll throw him on.

Glad you like it. I've heard a lot of good stuff about Between the Buried And Me, I will have to check them out at some point.

Wait a second, you forgot Nicholas Barker.

Didn't even know who that was. Funny enough when I searched him up on MS it said a bunch of his influences were people like Nicko McBrain, Neil Peart, Pete Sandoval, etc (other drummers on this list ). I have barely listened to anything he has done though so I can't really add him. I couldn't tell you what he really sounds like

He's really well-known... at least to people who listen(ed) to Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir and Old Man's Child. Next to that he's indeed in a lot of other stuff as well. Check out this song:

Although I understand that you won't add him seeing as you barely know him.

Glad you like it, it's probably my favourite song but the whole album is fantastic (easily my favourite OMC album):

Many people worship Nick (how friends call him ) Barker which isn't all that strange considering he's a great drummer. He also looks pretty badass if you ask me.

Nick is definitely a boss drummer. Nice catch. Although I'm surprised you listen to his music, Erik, you don't strike me as listening to music that is as fast as Nick usually plays. That is definitely my favorite OMC album as well, fucking fantastic.

@Ceddybu
Another really good drummer who has also done a lot of session/touring work, like Nick, is Reno Killerich. He played on the next OMC album after In Defiance Of Existence.

Another really good, high profile session drummer, I just noticed is not on this list, is Tony Laureano. His resume is almost as large and impressive as Nick Barker's.

You're also missing the even higher profile drummer, Hallhammer.

When it comes to black metal, I enjoy pretty much all styles (probably everything except for Depressive Suicidal Black Metal, what a ridiculous genre ), so also melodic and symphonic black metal. Right now OMC is easily my favourite band out of the three I mentioned though. And by the way, I don't only listen to death doom or beauty and the beast metal. Maybe my lists gave you that idea.

Fair enough.

And not just the lists, but that also seems to be all I ever see you talking about in the Shoutbox (maybe I just coincidentally miss all your talk of other genres...?).

I guess I indeed mostly talk about those genres in the shoutbox, but not always, so that's why I also say fair enough.
