Really impressive!

Omega Arcane certainly is a great album, but to me not worthy of a 9/10 because the last song (Omega Arcane) is damn boring and only brings down the album as a whole. Now it's 8-8.5/10 material, which is still high of course.

Listened to that Sirenia album just once and really didn't like it. Like many gothic metal bands, they've become a lot worse if you ask me. At Sixens and Sevens and An Elixer for Existence are easily the best albums Morten has ever made with Sirenia. Oh, and good to see you didn't include that crappy new Tristania album. Haven't heard any of the other albums you listed, except for Old Mornings Dawn of course, which is my #1 2013 album (btw, I made a Summoning "best to worst" list a few weeks ago, so check it out if you're interested).

I agree that the title track is not the best song on the album, pretty long with some boring parts, but overall Omega Arcane deserves a 9 imo, as it is full of great melodies (important for me), every song is cachy withouth being too similar to each other. Too bad the band is not that good live, you can't really hear the keyboards, so the most awesome part of the songs is lost

I really enjoyed these new albums with Ailyn on vocals (except The Enigma Of Life, that was pretty boring), I know she has a very poppish voice, maybe too sweet for metal, and the music become more commercial too, but still, I somehow love it. But I agree that Sixes and Sevens was their best album, but I wasn't that impressed with Elixir for Existence, it was not varied enough imo.

As for Tristania, I still haven't heard the last album, the song I heard was pretty boring and didn't make me interested in it.
Of the other albums most of them is not really your taste (too much power metal ), but maybe you would like Fleshgod Apocalypse - Labyrinth (much better than their previous album, and I like the Greek Mythology theme) and Mechina - Empyrean, which I just put into the list. I discovered them by the MS awards, and really enjoyed this Industrial/Symphonic metal. I can also recommend Ghost B.C. - Infestissumam, if you like Psychedelic rock.

I've heard Xenon (their 2014 album) and I really like it, although it's not the kind of music I could listen to twice in a row (way too chaotic). Will be checking out Empyrean as well, so thanks for reminding me.

I agree. Melodies are important to me as well, especially in case of this kind of black metal. And yeah, indeed all the songs are very catchy without being too similar. Exactly my opinion as well, I just rate it a little lower because that last track really bores the hell out of me. As I said, without that track I'd give it a 9/10 as well (now about an 8.5 seems about right).

The Enigma of Life is the only Sirenia album I haven't heard, and I'm not planning on listening to it either. An Elixir for Existence contains a few really awesome songs, like Lithium and a Lover, Voices Within and In My Darkest Hours. The last song, the instrumental outro, is pretty great as well. The album isn't as consistent as the debut, because a few songs on the album are definitely less great (Save Me From Myself comes to mind).

You made the right decision in not listening to Darkest White, haha. That song, and frankly the whole album, sounds indeed boring and uninspired as well. Anyway, I've listened to Fleshgod Apocalypse and I can see why it's your cup of tea. I quite liked one of their albums (I think it was the debut), so I might check out the new one as well. The new Mechina really hasn't a lot, if any, industrial elements in it, at least to my ears. So symphonic death metal it is. Lastly, I heard Ghost B.C.'s debut and was really surprised at how mellow their sound is (I expected metal, I guess). And since I didn't really like it (6/10 at best, after one spin) I doubt I'll like the sophomore record, so I won't check it out.
