A List Of Great Debut Albums
A lot of bands have great debut albums. Obviously this list is just a fraction of all the great debut albums out there, but it's a start. I'll keep expanding this list continuously, so all suggestions are welcome. My favourite genres are Doom, Black and Gothic Metal, but I also like Progressive, Thrash and Death Metal. I also included genres of each album. |
1.
40 Watt Sun - The Inside Room
2.
Abigor - Verwüstung / Invoke The Dark Age
3.
Ablaze In Hatred - Deceptive Awareness

The Rarest CDs In Jiri's Kollection
The following CDs are the as the title states, "The Rarest CDs In Jiri's Kollection". However, there are two LP sets, so the title is ultimately lying. Anyway, these CDs have ineffable sentimental and "pride for owning them" value, as well as monetary value. I have listed them in order of "pride" importance; meaning the first is the most adored by Jiri and the last is least adored by Jiri, but still a rare artifact. That said, anything ultra rare in Jiri's kollection was examined and placed into the list below. Enjoy. |
1.
Root - Kärgeräs | |
2.
Chthonic - Where The Ancestors' Souls Gathered
3.
Ulver - The Trilogie - Three Journeyes through the Norwegian Netherworlde
4.
Sigh - Infidel Art | |
5.

My Top 50 Albums Of All Time
My top 50 favourite albums of all time (initially it was a top 20 list). Only 1 album per band. I've added genres and my favourite songs. |
1.
After Forever - Decipher

Agalloch - Ashes Against The Grain
3.
Anathema - The Silent Enigma

Iron Recommends: A Metal Selection
Yep, one of those lists. Everyone has one, so I thought I'd make a list of metal albums I really recommend.
This is not an absolute "best-of" list, for a few reasons:
1) I stick to one album per band, unless there's been a drastic style shift (like Katatonia's).
2) I try to cover all major subgenres fairly, so I have something for everyone. It counterbalances the tendency to list all the cool bands in a style I'm into right now (like drone or epic doom). |
1.
Warning - Watching From a Distance
2.
Candlemass - Nightfall
3.
Reverend Bizarre - In The Rectory of the Bizarre Reverend
4.
Pagan Altar - The Lords Of Hypocrisy
5.
Katatonia - Dance of December Souls |

My Favorite Atmospheric Black Metal Albums (WIP)
This is a favorites list, not a guide or anything of that sort. It just highlights the albums that I've enjoyed listening to and spinned extensively since last November (When I got into this monolithic genre.) One entry for each band. The descriptions aren't necessarily descriptions of the music. I just wrote what came to my mind. I will update with new albums frequently.
EDIT: Got to 50 entries, so I guess I'll stop for now. I want more time to revisit these 50, get into the other albums of the bands listed below and delve into other genres of metal. I guess that taking a break from black metal (at least new stuff) will ensure that I won't get bored of it. It is likely that I'll continue this list by the half of July. |
1.
A Forest Of Stars - Opportunistic Thieves Of Spring
2.
Addaura - Burning For The Ancient
3.
Agalloch - Pale Folklore
4.
Alcest - Écailles De Lune
5.
Alda - : Tahoma : |

After A Year Of Metal: The Albums With The Biggest Impact
It's nearly been a year since I've started listening to metal. I've listened to many albums since then, but it took me some time to get used to some genres, band ideologies and listening to full albums. This is a list of albums that had a big impact on the way I perceive metal. It is NOT a favorite album list as I don't still frequently listen to some of the listed albums anymore. Ordered by impact level. |
1.
Agalloch - Ashes Against The Grain
2.
Suffocation - Pierced From Within
3.
Immortal - At The Heart Of Winter
4.
Agalloch - The Mantle | |
5.
Edge Of Sanity - Crimson |
