I love Anthrax, so I don't wanna sound like a dick when I say this, but..... I don't like this album. The first 3 tracks (Earth On Hell, The Devil You Know, and Fight 'Em Till You Can't) are awesome. After that though the album drops in quality pretty drastically.

Aha the Belladonna fangirl is answering
Hey! lol
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a huge fan of Joey's vocals, but even a great singer can't save an album if it's lacking musically. (Rob Halford and Ronnie James Dio for example, both sang on more than one sub par albums in their careers...) For me, Joey singing on the album is just the icing on the cake. Had John Bush been the vocalist for it, I'd still be calling it a great album, because I feel musically, it's their most consistent set of material in 2 decades. The fact that Joey happens to be singing on it as well, is just pure coincidence. lol

Discovered Anthrax back in 2007 because i was listening to Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth so should really check out the last of the big 4. I absolutely fell in love with the band and they became my favorite. At the time they had Dan nelson and were rumored to be recording a new album so i looked forward to this with much anticipation. 3 years later i saw anthrax with the big 4 with still waiting for this album. So its fair to say i've been waiting for this for most of my teenage years. While not the masterpiece my wait justified, this is still a solid album and along with endgame and death magnetic, Keeps in the thrash style while still sounding like a modern metal record. I belive this record to be one of anthrax's best since Sound of white noise and probably a runner up for best of 2011 surely.

I just can't get into this one. I've listened to it quite a few times all the way through and can only find parts that catch my ear every so often. I love Joey being back and for the time his voice is sounding pretty good. But the majority of the riffs just don't speak Anthrax to me. There are even a lot of points where I can't help but think that the riffs are more similar to "The Damned Things"... that is what a side project is for, dudes.

I thought that this was a pretty decent album. I would have preferred these particular songs sung by John Bush. It's not that I don't like Joey, his old stuff was awesome. John Bush has more of a comanding voice (I feel that way anyway) than Joey. At least it wasn't Dan Nelson.

The more I listen to it the more I like it. Joeys voice is phenomenal and he has some serious vocal melodies going on. I wasnt expecting another Among The Living. They changed their sound years ago but for what it is its a catchy, fun, head bang'able listen.

Finally got my copy, and it's worth noting they've made good efforts on the packaging (nice shiny digipack with cool pictures, plus the single cover with Anthrax fighting zombies printed behind the disc). That in addition to a nice album and I'm glad I've spent my money for it.

Liked the production and overall the sound feels like a mixture of the two anthrax eras with a heavy modern production, my problem is, despite SOME good ones, I didn't find any of the songs to be particularly memorable or strong Anthrax songs, especially in the second half: better than stomp and volume, but not as memorable or as enjoyable as WCFYA or the classics

What makes Metalstorm greater than other metal boards is precisely the ability people have to criticize. Way too many boards are nothing more than a place for fanboys to post stupid things and give ridiculously high ratings.
If you're too much of a crybaby to stand negative comments at what you like, just stay away. The less fanboys the better.
P.S. You never see me snap at people because they bash something I like. I consider it is their own right to dislike it. I expect the same from others. Nothing sucks more than butthurt fanboys.

you state no reason why this album is so awesome, only spout stupidity on detractors. RK presented a valid statement regarding communities at large.
why do you think this is a "solid 9"?
i guess it is too difficult to challenge yourself to say what is good about an album, far easier to just flamethrower detractors.

Personally, I think stating why you find an album awesome (or crap) at least as a means to "validate" your opinion in the eyes of others, is very foolish, and ultimately, a waste of time. Whilst I 100% agree with Ravenking's response to RuiQuental's obvious irrational fanboyism, I think you are wrong to suggest that if he stated why he found the album "so awesome" it would make him look any better in the eyes of people who dislike the album.
I have stated in this thread why I like the album so much, and why I gave it the rating I did. However, I don't for one moment think that doing that is going to change anyone's mind who doesn't like the album, and nor would I wish it too. Stating your opinion on why you like/hate an album, is fine of course, but doing so to try and defend your own opinion, or to try and change someone else's is just dumb. He does not have to justify why he likes the album, just as you don't have to justify your negativity towards it. If you don't respect other's opinions, then you can't and shouldn't, expect anyone to respect yours. I'm certainly not defending his fanboyism, but giving reasons on why you like an album still won't stop some people from bashing you merely because they don't agree with you.

au contraire, sister. it at least shows more sight and forethought than slamming the opinions of anyone who does not think in the same manner as you do.
while differing opinions might never see eye to eye, taking the time to establish why you like something in well constructed and thought out manner, it can only enhance you general statement.
any fucking fool can say "anyone who disagrees with me is a moron", but taking the time to state your case does a swell job of diffusing a lot of the morons that might disagree. or at least establish some respect with those who differ in opinion.
i think this album is mediocrity incarnate. you dig it. you explained why. i respect your opinion, even if vastly different from my own. as for the chap saying, basically, "if you don't agree with me, your opinion sucks", rest assured, it has eroded the value of his opinion in other metal subjects beyond this one. he is simply viewed as some pathetic fanboi with nothing of interest or weight to say.
you both viewed it a 9. i'll only take one of your opinions vaguely seriously moving forward.

Haha, I completely agree with everything you've just said.
I simply meant that even if you do state your opinion in a thought out, rational way, some will still attack you merely because your opinion differs from theirs.
I have had a few debates on this site about albums, and even sometimes in heated discussions with certain members, there is a level of respect there from me about their opinions, and vice versa. Even when we don't agree. I have also been mindlessly bashed merely for stating I like certain albums, but I don't treat those people's opinions with a shred of credibility, and I don't respect them on iota. You do not have to see eye to eye to respect someone else's opinions, and anyone who thinks you do, is quite clearly an idiot.
For me, the line has always been, attack the album/band, but never the person who's opinion on said albums/bands differs from yours. (unless they display attitudes like the fanboy above) Attacking someone on a personal level just because they have a different opinion on an album to you is very immature, and also makes me think that their own opinions are not coming from a totally honest, unbiased place.
Whilst we may not agree about the quality of this album, I do completely agree that the fanboy above has eroded the value of his opinion with his attitude, and he does not deserve to have it respected. Your opinion on the album differs from mine, but I respect it far more than the guy above who gave the album the same score as I did. As he can't really have that much confidence in his own opinion, if he allows differing opinions to matter so much to him.
And yep, I can guess whom.

You just spit your horizons in a limited way so that you just bounce within that areas. You love to contradict and then throw your opinions to the limited area which I feel is "unnecessarily intervention Morons". I respect your opinions to what you snap and to the extent is very genuinely right but the intervention and that too be for no reasons( precisely "deliberate intervention"). What Angelic said was absolutely her suggestions which indeed was correct into the context what she said and quoted. But dont take me wrong Sir its my opinion to depict here.

Ha..Ha..Ha... Anthrax made good album ?? Surprisingly, they did ! I did not believe it when I was told, even lazy to spend my time listening to it.
Joey's vocals were so good compare to his earlier works. Less frivolous and sounds thicker. This is a new vocalist called Joey Bush (Joey Belladonna + John Bush). All other band members' skills also improved so much, now they create much longer riffs and much continuos rhythms.
A masterpiece after Spread The Disease. Music mob likes to follow what people say without listening befre makin comments.
