Let us dig over a decade ago through the pile of bones and rotten flesh in order to find the remains of scattered brain and inhale the vile fumes of an all so punishing violent genre that is brutal death metal. Hidden deep beneath the surface of putrefied human bodies, dry blood and guts we will find a carcass whose lacerations are still gushing out blood, whose heart is still beating at a worrying pace and whose face holds the most sickening of expressions. However, what is most noticeable about this living figure and whatever humanity it might still have, is that in the palm of his left hand, lays a copy of Cryptopsy's debut album Blasphemy Made Flesh. Only now can we comprehend.

A solid yet brutal debut from Cryptopsy. The vocals, although very incomprehensible almost sound inhuman on songs such as 'Defenestration', 'Abigor' and 'Graveyard (Cryptopsy)', and the instrumentation here is pretty top notch. The drum work really hits hard on every song and the bass is well-executed, keeping up with everything else. Some of the solos here are awesome too, especially on 'Open face surgery' and 'Mutant christ'.

Doesn´t sound very "old school" and drums are too loud mix,but pretty good album.

A Nice Guy
I've just come to realised just how good this album actually is after all these years, I used to think it was mediocre, but how wrong was I? The bass in particular is fantastic! The riffs are surprisingly groovy and melodic, and the death growls are insane, but the drumming, oh man the drumming is phenomenal!

Although the quality and songwriting is not quite on the same level as it's next release None So Vile (the best brutal death metal album ever made imo), and the sound and production isn't all that great (for me doesn't sound meaty enough), it's still a very impressive debut, and one of the most brutal albums in it's time for sure.

The whole album is pretty impressive although "Abigor", "Mutant Christ", "Open Face Surgery" and "Pathological Frolic" really stand from the rest imo.
