I'll be honest with all of you: After albums like VI, their cover EP and worst of all: VII, I really felt that Shining didn't have it in them anymore and should just die.
I don't mind eating my words with a pound or two of shit as long as I can do it while listening to this album.
PLEASE be better that the last two albums... I still have faith in you guys!
Well I'll be damn... They did it, they fucking did it right this time.
Dare I say it? Yeah... This album is their best since IV (yes, It does feels like I like it even more than V).
Written by !J.O.O.E.! on 20.10.2012 at 19:50 The reason you can't hear me is because Shining's terrible music has permanently damaged your hearing and brain cells =P
Nah, I just took a shower and cleaned my ears of all the earwax. But thanks for your concern though!
Written by Slayer666 on 22.10.2012 at 22:15 I'm not really sure what to think of this, to be honest. It kinda feels like it tries too hard to be V, but V it is not....
To me it's just as good if not better but I'm aware I'm pretty alone here (except Der probably).
But it's clear for me that this album is way better than both VI and VII. That's already nice news for me. The chugga chugga riffs I hated on VII only appear once in the last song and Kvarforth understood how to use his cleans.
I guess old Shining fans can stop worrying about this band. VII: Född Förlorare and Redefining Darkness is just a horrible example of how the band can change from misanthropic Within Deep Dark Chambers to mtv modern metal like RD

I'm a rare breed then. I'm an old fan... Love everything from I to V... disliked VI... HATED VII, yet somehow I like this one a lot. Hahahahaha
All of you talk about being a Shining fan but you can't really understand the entire dimension of the band. I love EVERY Shining album. I would say the V: Halmstad is the better for the compositions and the reflection of the band's identity. And the VII: Född Förlorare is just a masterpiece because he's the most impregnated, the one which can take your feeling and go away forever. Just look at the cover. These three guys are not on lamentations as you think, they are crying for the beauty. EACH Shining album is a part of the puzzle. Redefining Darkness is one of them, you just have to find his path. Just listen it more than two times before rating it by 4 or 5. The cover will always talk for the album, don't forget it.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Still, I think Född Förlorare was not as solid as their previous works, despite being quite good.

I agree!
This album smashes!
this album puts the items of the old and new shining. It is a fusion of both. it is not as good as the V or VII, but worth the VI.
I put a 9.5 rounded to catch these notes shameful, 4 or 5.
sorry for my english.
didn't absolutely hate VI or VII, but can't say i'd rank those too high either. I II III IV and V are all masterpieces IMO and most EP's are great as well. while i can still hear some VI in this, i can't rate it lower than a 9 not only for the music itself, but for the relief that they've proved they can still do what they once did.
Best song on the album but also a total rip off of the "28 Days/Weeks Later" soundtrack. The melody is exactly the same. Doesn't matter though, it's a great tune.
This album is just what I expected. I have a great soundtrack for November now.
I've been listening to it since morning no stop
i can't get the 2nd, 5th, 6th tracks out of my mind
loved it.

Wasnt sure if i would like all the clear vocals in this album... but after listening it for a few times i found this to be just as dark as the previous albums. hail Kvaforth
The english kills it for me in some parts. Not because of the language or the pronunciation but because it gets too over the top with the satan, darkness and cheesy lyrics. It was better when I couldn't understand a thing Neverthless excellent album.
